HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-82-0243RESOLUTION NO. 8 2i - 2 4 t`3 A RESOLUTION CLOSING CERTAIN STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC ON SATURDAY, MARCH 13, 1982, BETWEEN 12 NOON AND 5:00 P.M., IN CONNECTION WITH THE ANNUAL ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE, SPONSORED BY THE ST. PATRICK' S DAY COMMITTEE, INC. TO EFFECTUATE SAFE PEDESTRIAN PASSAGE DURING THE AFORESAID CELE- BRATION; SAID STREET CLOSURES BEING SUBJECT TO ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPART- MENTS; AUTHORIZING SAID SPONSOR TO PROVIDE CON- =_ CESSION SERVICES ALONG THE PARADE ROUTE; FURTHER ESTABLISHING THE AREA PROHIBITED TO RETAIL PEDDLERS DURING THE PARADE PERIOD. WHEREAS, under Resolution No. 82-14 adopted January 14, 1982, the City Commission authorized the St. Patrick's Day Parade Com- mittee, Inc. to conduct concession activity to provide services in keeping with the theme and nature of the Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade to be held on Flagler Street and Biscayne Boulevard as well as the City of Miami Bayfront Park; and WHEREAS, the City Commission has adopted a policy in connec- tion with festivals of this type; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. In order to effectuate safe pedestrian passage during the Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, sponsored by the St. Patrick's Day Committee, Inc., on March 13, 1982, the following streets are hereby closed to through vehicular traffic from 12 noon to 5:00 P.M. on March 13, 1982, such closing of streets being subject to the issuance of permits by the Police and Fire Depart- ments: (a) Flagler Street between NW North River Drive and Biscayne Boulevard; (b) Biscayne Boulevard between Flagler Street and NE 4th Street. Section 2. The aforesaid sponsor is hereby authorized to provide concession services along the route of the said parade in keeping with the theme and nature of said event. Section 3. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 39-13 of the City Code, all retail peddlers' occupational licenses issued under the provisions of Chapter 31 of the City Code, as amended, CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF MAR 1 1 1982 �xw �� 2 2 4 3 will not be valid in the aforesaid designated areas and within 300feet thereof during the aforesaid time of street closures. We erred in our request in that it should read "Flagler Street and Biscayne Boulevard for March 13th and Bayfront Park for March 14th", since there are no parade activities of the Parade Committee on the 13th at Bayfront Park.
