HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-82-0240M82-164 (2/25/82) RESOLUTION NO. 8 2- 2 4 U A RESOLUTION CLOSING CERTAIN STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC ON SUNDAY, MARCH 14, 1982, BETWEEN 10:00 A.M. AND 11:00 P.M., IN CONNECTION WITH THE "CALLE 8 OPEN HOUSE CARNIVAL OF MIAMI", TO EFFECTUATE SAFE PEDESTRIAN PASSAGE DURING THE AFORESAID CELEBRATION; SAID STREET CLOSURES BEING SUBJECT TO ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS; FURTHER ESTABLISHING THE AREA PROHIBITED TO RETAIL PEDDLERS DURING THE SAID PERIOD. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. In order to effectuate safe pedestrian passage during the "Calle 8 Open House Carnival of Miami", on Sunday, March 14, 1982, the following streets are hereby closed to through vehicular traffic from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. on March 14, 1982, such closing of streets being subject to the issuance of permits by the Police and Fire Departments: (a) SW 8th Street between 12th and 27th Avenues; said permit from the Police Department to be issued only upon the full approval of the Police Chief after giving all due consideration to the safety and traffic needs of businesses, churches, and residents of the area for entering and crossing through said arterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's judgment predicated upon all factors set forth herein. Section 2. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 39-13 of the City Code, all retail peddlers' occupational licenses issued under the provisions of Chapter 31 of the City Code, as amended, will not be valid in the aforesaid designated areas and within 300 feet thereof during the aforesaid time of street closures.
