HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-82-028423 RESOLUTION NO. 8 2 - 2 8 4 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SECURE APPRAISALS OF THE FIRESTONE TIRE AND RUBBER STORE AT 1200 WEST FLAGLER STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA AND THE MIAMI POLICE BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION SITE AT 2300 NORTHWEST 14TH STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA; PUR- SUANT TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI AFFORDABLE RENTAL HOUSING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the City Commission, through Resolution No. 81-848, approved the implementation of a rental housing development incentive program referred to as the City Affordable Rental Housing Development Program (hereinafter referred to as the "Program") ; and WHEREAS, the Program implementation strategy calls for the identification and acquisition by the City of development sites suitable for the construction of low and moderate housing; and WHEREAS, a number of potential development sites have been identified and the fair market value of these sites must be determined prior to final site selection and acquisition; and WHEREAS, the City Commission, through Resolution No. 81-956 approved a list of potential development sites for implementation of the Affordable Rental Housing Development program and further authorized the City Manager to secure appraisal services for said sites not to exceed Seventy Five Thousand Dollars ($75,000) in Miami Housing Bond proceeds: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to secure appraisals for the Firestone Tire Store located at 1200 West Flagler Street, Miami, Florida and the Miami Police Benevo- lent Association site, located at 2300 Northwest 14th Street, Miami, Florida. Section 2. The appraisals are hereby authorized pur- suant to the implementation of the City of Miami Affo�,�_ah��,i, CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF MAR 2 5 1982 0 0 Rental Housing Development Program. Gary City Manager u Authorization to appraise Development Sites -Affordable Rental Housing Development Program Dena Spillman, Director - City Commission Agenda - Department of Community Development April 8, 1982 It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to secure appraisals of the Firestone Tire Store and Miami Police Benevolent Association sites, pursuant to the implementation of the City of Miami Affordable Rental Housina Development Program. On October 7, 1981, by Resolution No. 81-848, the City Commission approved the implementation of the City of Miami Affordable Rental Housing Development Program. On November 12, 1981, by Resolution No. 81-956, the City Comrission approved a list of potential development sites. The City Commission further authorized the City Manager to secure subject appraisals and appropriated up to S75,000 for this purpose. Two sites located in the Park West area have been deleted due to excessive acquisition and relocation costs. The Firestone Tire Store (1200 W. Flagler Street) and the Police Benevolent Association (2300 N.W. 14th Street) site are recommended by staff as suitable replacements.
