Mr. Howard Gary
City Manager
City of Miami
P.O. Box 330708
-` Miami, Fl. 3313S
Dear Mr. Gary,
At the City Commission meeting of December 15, 1981,
the City Commission passed a resolution permitting
sidewalk cafes in downtown Miami for a trial period.
After the trial period, if there are no public complaints,
a permanent ordinance would be passed to permit sidewalk
cafes as per the enclosed regulations.
Since December 15th, three sidewalk cafes have opened
downtown. They are very successful, colorful and attrac-
tive. To my knowledge no complaints have been made about
i the cafes, on the contrary many downtowners have expressed
their delight in them.
I would like to request at this time the scheduling of
this item before the City Commission for the May 13 meeting.
Sincerely,
Emilio Calleja
