FOR FURNISHING READY MIX CON- CRETE ON A CONTRACT BASIS FOR ONE YEAR TO THE DEPART- MENT OF PUBLIC WORKS; AT A TOTAL ESTIMATED COST OF $146,700.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1981- 82 OPERATING BUDGET OF THAT DEPARTMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE THE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THESE MATERIALS. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received March 22, 1982 for the furnishing of approximately 3,600 cubic yards of Ready -Mix Concrete for the Department of Public Works; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 16 potential suppliers and 6 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1981-82 Operating Budget; and WHEREAS, these materials will be used by the Department of Public Works for the purpose of making sidewalk and other repairs in the street right-of-ways; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Department of Public Works recommend that the bids reveived from MPS Industries, Inc., Lonestar Florida, Inc., Kwik-Mix Concrete Corp., and Rinker Materials Corp. be accepted as the most advantageous bids to the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The March 22, 1982 bids of MPS Industries, Lone - star Florida, Inc., Kwik-Mix Concrete Corp. and Rinker Materials Corp, for furnishing approximately 3,600 cubic yards of Ready Mix Concrete to the Department of Public Works at a total estimated cost of $146,700.00 are hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1981-82 Operating Budget of that Department. Inc., Lonestar Florida, Inc. Kwik-Mix Concrete Corp. and Rinker Materials Corp_. for furnishing approx- imately 3.600 cubic yards of Ready Mix Concrete at a total estimated cost of $146.700.00. Pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received March 22, 1982 for furnishing approximately 3,600 cubic yards of Ready Mix Concrete on a contract basis for one year to the Department of Public Works. Invitations were mailed to 16 potential suppliers and 6 bids were received as per the attached tabulation. Funds for this purchase are available in the 1981-82 Operating Budget. The concrete is needed to make sidewalk and other repairs in the street right-of-ways. The Department of Public Works concurs with this recommendation. Only two bidders will give one day delivery. One of these bidders, Oolite Industries, charges an addi- tional $20.00 for each stop. Bid prices from the recommended bidders varies from $38.70 to $41.85 per cubic yard, with delivery from 1 to 3 days. The ability to purchase from the various bidders will result in a savings where delivery can be extended. All bids meet the specifications.
