Recommendation for Resolution Waiving
Formal Bids
4 Rubbish Crane Units
Resolution
It is recommended that a resolution be passed waiving the require-
ment for formal sealed bids and authorizing the purchase of 4
Rubbish Crane units from Peterson Industrial_ Machines, Inc. at a
total cost of $59,600.00.
The Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance is in the process of developing
an emergency accelerated Rubbish Crane rebuilding program, and has requested the
purchase of 4 crane units from Peterson Industrial Machines, Inc. at a total cost
of $59,600.00.
The Rubbish Cranes presently in service are in an extremely worn condition. This
is due to the proposed consideration to curbside pickup, which, if adopted, would
have reduced the number of cranes needed.
Formal bids were received on April 19, 1982 for Heavy Equipment replacement, in-
cluding Rubbish Cranes. The only bid received for cranes was from Bucyrus -Erie.
The bid stipulated a minimum order of 10 units at $97,680.00 each for a total
cost of $976,800.00. Bucyrus -Erie has been the only source for Rubbish Cranes.
Funds for this purchase are available in the 1981-82 Operating Budget.
The Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance concurs w ibh this recommenda-
tion.
