Meetings have already been held with the fleet administrators from many municipalities and Dade County to discuss the pos- sibilities of providing centralized training in the mechanics trade. All the Government entities that attended our previous two meet- ings which were held on February 25th and March 25, 1982, at the Building and Vehicle Maintenance Department, have fully agreed to participate in the apprenticeship program. It is my intention to allow the participants from other muni- cipalities to join our classroom training which would be held at our Heavy Equipment Maintenance Facility. The total cost for the classroom training would be distributed among each participant and billed to the respective municipality. As a result of these meetings it was the unanimous decision of those attending to form an organization of fleet administrators from Dade County Municipalities to oversee the apprenticeship training, as well as the invaluable exchange of information. In order to gain the total support of the City Commission regard- ing a combined Apprenticeship Program, the enclosed resolution has been prepared for their approval. Your continued support in this matter is appreciated. 82-365 0 4tip of Iftinittt, Xtoriilet MAURICE A. C. E. "Eddie" Cox, is most interested in an appointment to serve on the Florida State Appren- ticeship Council. As I understand the selection process is due to commence shortly, I am taking the liberty of enclosing a copy of Mr. Cox's resume for your information. I strongly support Air. Cox's application to serve on the Council due to his many years of practical experience in having quite suc- cessfully developed and guided the City's Apprenticeship Program in his respective Department. I feel that Air. Cox's background and vast experience would make him a most valuable and productive member of the Council, and I heartily recommend him to you. Thank you very much for your time and consideration of this matter. Sincerely, L /pas uriceFerre encls . (dictated but not read) bc: Air. C. E. Cox Air. Dean R. Mielke
