AT A TOTAL COST OF $125,736.00 FOR COCONUT GROVE - MINI PARK; AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE IN THE FEBRUARY 25, 1981 CONTRACT WITH SUNSET ENTERPRISES, INC. FOR SAID WORK IN THE NET AMOUNT OF $3,816.00; AND AUTHORIZING A FINAL PAY14ENT OF $5,613.36 WHEREAS, there exists a contract dated February 25, 1981 between the City of Miami and Sunset Enterprises, Inc.; and WHEREAS, the work has been satisfactorily completed, and Sunset Enterprises, Inc. has furnished the required documents certifying that all bills for labor and materials have been paid in full in connection with the aforesaid contract; and WHEREAS, a settlement was negotiated of the con- tractor's claims for extra work after all work was completed, which resulted in an increase in the contract; and WHEREAS, sufficient funds are available from 6th Year Community Development Block Grant Funds; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Departments of Public Works and Community Development recommend the increase of $3,816.00 to cover the increase in the contract; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE C014MISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The amount of the February 25, 1981 contract with Sunset Enterprises, Inc. for COCONUT GROVE - MINI PARK is hereby increased in the net amount of $3,816.00, allocating monies therefor from the 6th Year Community Development Block Grant Funds. CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF JUN 17 1982 4S Section 2. The completed work performed by Sunset Enterprises, Inc. for COCONUT GROVE - MINI PARK is hereby accepted at a total cost of $125,736.00. Section 3. The proper officials of the City of Miami are hereby authorized to pay Sunset Enterprises, Inc. a balance of $5,613.36 as full and final payment for all work performed and all materials furnished in connection with the aforesaid contract. Cather REFERENCES (For Commission Meeting Dire or of J rks of June 17, 1982) _ ENCLOSURES The Departments of Public Works and Community Development recommend the adoption of the resolution accepting the completed work performed by Sunset Enterprises, Inc. at a total cost of $125,736.00 for COCONUT GROVE - MINI PARK; authorizing an increase in the contract in the amount of $3,816.00; and authorizing a final payment of $5,613.36. Sunset Enterprises, Inc. has completed the project consist- ing of constructing a small passive park, complete with a two -level plaza, drainage structures, ramps, benches, and irrigation system, lighting, planting, and sidewalk, at the southwest corner of Grand Avenue and Elizabeth Street in Coconut Grove. The total payment to the contractor will be greater than the original contract amount by $3,816.00 because of a $4,400.00 negotiated settlement of the contractor's claims for extra work reached after all work was completed. Funds to cover the overrun are available from 6th Year Community Development Block Grant Funds. This was a lump sum contract in the amount of $121,920.00, but the completed contract amount is plus $3,816.00 for the increase. The final con- struction cost for the project is $125,736.00.
