BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The sum of $10,000.00 is hereby allocated for the support of the 1982 United Way Campaign of Dade County, Florida. H'o iaaorW� Director Department of Recreation May 26, 1982 Resolution allocating funds for a donation to the 1982 United Way Campaign It is recommended that the City of Miami make a donation in support of the 1982 United Way Campaign in the sum of $10,000.00, allocated from the Special Programs and Accounts - Contingency Fund. Given major federal cutbacks in the amount of funds made available to community service, non-profit organizations, and the fact that these organizations render a viable and needed service to our community , it is hereby recommended that the City of Miami, a municipal corporation of the State of Florida, make a donation of $10,000.00 to the 1982 United Way Campaign of Dade County. These funds are to be appropriated from the Special Programs and Accounts- Contingency Fund. On behalf of the more than 500,000 local citizens served through the 69 United lvay funded agencies and programs, I respectfully request the City of Aliami Commission's consideration of a $10,000 gift to the 1982 United Way Campaign. The United Way and the City of Miami have a long history of cooperation in attempting to meet the human service needs of this community. This cooperation is exhibited annually tlirough the employees of the City of Miami who volunteer their time not only to raise funds, but to assist the United flay and its funded agencies in numerous other voluntary roles. The City of Miami's consideration of such a gift is a first. The granting of the request will reflect the spirit of cooperation which leas long existed and will set the pace for continuation of the important services funded through the United Way's annual campaign.
