RECOMMENDATIONS
PLANNING DEPT. APPROVAL IN ACCORD WITH THE CONDITIONS ESTABLISHED
BY THE PLAT AND STREET COMMITTEE AND SUBJECT TO THE
CONDITION THAT N.W. iOTH AVENUE IS IMPROVED AS A
PEDESTRIAN MALL WITHIN 2YEARS OF THE RECORDING OF
THIS PLAT SUBJECT TO SITE PLAN APPROVAL BY THE
PLANNING DEPARTMENT. The closure of these portions
82-5 o C
of N.W. loth Avenue and N.W. 17th and l8th
Streets has been planned for several years in
order to provide for more unified development
I within the Jackson Memorial Hospital/Civic
k Center area. Such a closure was proposed in
the Hospital`s 1976 Master Plan and in several
subsequent studies of the area, Closure of
these rights -of -way would permit a more unified
development of support facilities for the
Hospital of the properties Bast of N.W. lOth
Avenue with a major pedestrian linkage in_the
form of a mall to the hospital itself. If
the mall and the new support facilities are
properly designed, the right-of-way closures
will greatly benefit the City.
i
PUBLIC WORKS Dedication is requested by plat,
D.O.T.T. The Department of Traffic and Transportation
has no objection to this proposal provided
replacement road for N.W. loth Avenue is
constructed and dedicated,
