HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-82-0711Y RESOLUTION N0. A RESOLUTION APPOINTING RALPH JOHNSON AS A MEMBER OF THE ARTS IN PUBLIC PLACES COMMITTEE, TO SERVE A TERM EXPIRING MAY 19, 1983. WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance 8759, adopted February 23, 1978, five individuals shall be appointed by the City Commission to serve on the Arts in Public Places Committee; and WHEREAS, in January 1982, Ron Frazier, a member of the committee, tendered his resignation, thereby creating a vacancy on the committee; and WHEREAS, in accordance with paragraph (1) of Section 18-10 of the City Code, nomination for membership on the committee shall be provided to the City Commission by a three member nominating panel consisting of a rep- resentative from the Cultural Executives Council, Inc., the South Florida Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and the Dade County Council of Arts and Sciences; and WHEREAS, the nominating committee has submitted a list of qualified candidates in accordance with Section 18-10 of the City Code for consideration in ranked order; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Gary City Manager "tO" Dena Spillman, Director Department of Community Development July 6, 1982 F Appointment to Arts in Public Places Committee 1 July 22, 1982 Commission Agend It is recommended that the City Commission appoint an individual to the Arts in Public Places Committee to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of committee member, Ron Frazier, per the attached resolution. On January 26, 1982, Ron Frazier, a member of the Arts in Public Places Committee, tendered his resignation from the Committee. Mr. Frazier had been appointed by the City Commission to serve until May 19, 1983. Under paragraph (1) of Section 18-10 of the City Code, adopted by Ordinance 8759 on February 23, 1978, nominations for membership are to be provided to the City Commission by a three member nomi- nating panel consisting of a representative of the Cultural Executive Council, Inc., the South Florida Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and the Dade County Council of Arts and Sciences. Committee vacancies are to be made by the City Commission from a list of names provided by the panel, with two nominees for each vacant position. The Committee presently consists of the following members: Robert B. Browne, Chairman (WM)-term expires 5-19-83 Lester Pancoast (WM)-term expires 9-1-86 Nora Swan (WF)-term expires 5-19-83 Margarita Canno (LF)-term expires 11-1-86 Seven names were submitted to the nominating panel for consideration.
