A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ESTABLISH
A PROPOSED PILLAGE RATE FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 1982
AND ENDING SEPTE,IBER 30, 1983.
WHEREAS, the
State
Legislature
has enacted HB-4D, entitled,
Truth in Hillage (TRI1'-1
Bill),
which requires
municipalities to establish a
proposed rrillage rate; and
WHEREAS, said law, adopted June 30, 1930, and amended on April
28, 1982 stipulates that the proposed rrill,age rate be submitted to the
Property Appraiser and the Tax Collector; and
WHEREAS, said rate will reflect the levy necessary to realize
property tax revenues anticipated in the FY'83 Budget; and
WHEREAS, the TRIH Bill requires that proposed tax rates be
included on tax notices; .and

Appraiser is not binding but is necessary for the purpose of preparation

all real ,and personal property in the downtown district, not exceeding one
half (1) mill on dollar valuatio,r or SUCh property for the purpose of
financing the operation of the downtown development authority.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE C0111.1ISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City ',tanager is hereby authorized to establish
a proposed millage rate for the City of Mianrf, Florida for the Fiscal Year
beginning October 1, 1982, and ending September 30, 1983 as follows:
General Operating 9.0612
Debt Service 1.6682
Total 1lillage Rate 10.7294
Section 2. The City Manager is further authorized to submit
a proposed millage rate for the Downtown Development Authority for the
Fiscal Year beginning October 1, 1982, and ending September 30, 1983, as
follows:
General Operating .5000
Total pillage Rate .5000

It is recommended that the City Commission
authorize the City Manager to establish
and submit to the Dade County Property
Appraiser's Office a proposed millage rate
for the City of Miami and the Downtown
Development Authority for FY '83.
As required by State law, the City must submit a proposed millage rate for the
City of Miami and the Downtown Development Authority to the Property Appraiser
and Tax Collector for the purpose of preparing tax notices. This proposed
millage rate will reflect the levy necessary to realize property tax revenues
anticipated in the FY '83 budget as follows:
General Operating 9.0612
Debt. Service 1.6682
Total 11i l l age Rate 10.729
Downtown Development authority .5000
In accordance with guidelines established by the State, it is suggested that the
first public hearing be field on Friday, September 10, 1982 and the second on
Thursday, September 23, 19II21, both beginning at 7:00 p.m.
It is suggested that the attached resolution be placed on the July 22, 1982
Commission Agenda.
