Dual -designation of NW 9th Avenue
between NW 15th and 18th Streets
as "NW 9th Avenue/Bob Hope Road" —
City Commission Motion 82-190
February 25, 1982
It is recommended that NW 9th Avenue
between NW 15th and 18th Streets be
given the dual designation of "N11 9th
Avenue/Bob Hope Road" per the attached
resolution.
Per Motion 82-190, February 25, 1982, the City Commission
requested the Memorial Committee to consider renaming NW 9th
Avenue from N19 14th Street to NW 18th Street as "Bob Hope
Boulevard."
By memorandum of April 29, 1982, (attached) Mr. Kern, Director,
Parks Department, reported for Mrs. Burton, that the Memorial
Committee was in favor of re -naming this street segment to
"Bob hope Boulevard."
It is understood that the Public llealth Trust and University
of Miami .`;(-,ciical School have been contacted and have no
objection.
The Planning Department re conunends that:
a) the designation by "Road" rather than "Boulevard" as
the right-of-way does not allow for sufficient room
for a boulevard cross-section.
b) the designation be dual: N69 9th Avenue/Bob Hope Road
so as to reduce possible confusion for the Fire and
Police DepArtments and the general public.
c) the dual designation only apply between Ned 15th and
18th Streets.

The Planning Department supports this action only because
the Public IIealth Trust is in the process of replatting land
on the east side of the Civic Center (see sketch plan attached).
This replatting will open two new diagonal street segments which
cannot be designated numerically. The proposal on the tentative
plat to be presented to the Zoning Board July 12th is that one
new diagonal segment be named Bob Hope Road. The plat will be
considered by the City Commission July 29, 1982.
It is requested that this item be listed on the City Commission
agenda of July 22, 1982.
