A RESOLUTION APPOINTING THE FOLLOWING CITY OF MIAMI
CITIZENS TO SERVE AS MEMBERS OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI FESTIVAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE,
EACH SERVING A ONE YEAR TERM TO EXPIRE
ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF THIS RESOLUTION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following citizens of the City of Miami
are hereby appointed to serve as members of the City of Miami
Festival Advisory Committee for a one year term, expiring one
year from the date of this resolution:

Esther Valdez Cruz
Ludovico de Blanc
William Lee
John Williams

ENCLOSURES Proposed Legislation
It is recommended that the City Commission
adout a resolution appointing five 5) ci-
tizens to serve as members of the City of
Miami Festival Advisory Committee, each
serving a one year term to expire one year
from the date of this resolution, as per
attached resolution.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this legislation is to appoint five (5)
new members to the City of Miami Festival Advisory Com-
mittee as replacements for those members recently re-
signed or whose term of office expired May 28, 1982.
BACKGROUND: On March 17, 1981, the City Commission, via Resolution
No. 81-189, established the City of Miami Festival Ad-
visory Committee to review and make recommendations to
the City Manager concerning the City's participation
in community -run festival. On May 28, 1981, the initial
members to said Committee were appointed by the Commis-
sion to terms not to exceed one year.
CAUSE/EFFECT: By the appointment of new members to the Festival Advi-
sory Committee, the City will provide for the continuation
of a valuable and useful tool for the review and evalu-
ation of over thirty (30) festivals held, throughout the
year, in the City of Miami.
SUMMARY: It is recommended that five members be appointed to the
City of Miami Festival Advisory Committee to maintain a
continuous evaluation and review of community -run festi-
vals in the City of Miami and to provide the necessary
recommendations to the City Manager.

lection to the Festival Advisory Committee at the

ENCLOSURES
Please be advised that as of May 28, 1982, the term of service
for four members of the Festival Advisory Committee expired.
These members, John Baratte, Margarita Ross, Jose Mendez, and
Bennie Moore have been advised of this situation.
We request the Commission's appointment for four new members
to this Advisory Committee; two to be selected as regular
members and two to be selected as alternates..
It is recommended that the selection process begin as soon as
possible so that new members may be fully briefed on their
duties before the 1982-83 grant review process begins in August,
1982.
