A RESOLUTION ELECTING AND APPOINTING JOSE R.
GARCIA-PEDROSA AS CITY ATTORNEY OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, EFFECTIVE JULY 29, 1982,
TO SERVE THE UNEXPIRED TERM OF GEORGE F.
KNOX, JR. AND GRANTING SAID NEWLY -APPOINTED
CITY ATTORNEY A PERSONAL LEAVE OF ABSENCE
UNTIL AUGUST 16, 1982; ESTABLISHING AN ANNUAL
SALARY OF $70,000 FOR THAT POSITION WITH A
PERSONAL EXPENSE ALLOWANCE OF $2,500 PER YEAR; SAID
SALARY AND PERSONAL ALLOWANCE TO BECOME EFFEC-
TIVE AUGUST 16, 1982; PROVIDING FOR A VACATION
OF 30-WORKING DAYS PER YEAR AND 12 DAYS ANNUAL
SICK LEAVE.
WHEREAS, Sections 4 and 21 of the City Charter provide
that the City Commission shall elect and appoint a City
Attorney; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission is presently required to
elect and appoint a City Attorney to serve the unexpired term
of George F. Knox, Jr.; and
WHEREAS, Jose R. Garcia -Pedrosa possesses the necessary
qualifications and the legal acumen to perform the duties of
the City Attorney; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to delineate herein
the benefits which will accrue to Jose R. Garcia -Pedrosa upon
his appointment as City Attorney which benefits shall include
a personal leave of absence until August 16, 1982 during which
period he has requested that he not be compensated;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Jose R. Garcia -Pedrosa is hereby elected and
appointed as City Attorney of the City of Miami, Florida, effec-
tive July 29, 1982, to serve the unexpired term of George F.
Knox, Jr., and said Jose R. Garcia -Pedrosa is hereby granted
a personal leave of absence until August 16, 1982.
Section 2. The salary of the City Attorney of the City of
Miami, Florida, is hereby authorized and established at $70,000
per year with a personal expense allowance of $2,500 per year,
said salary and personal expense allowance to become effective
August 16, 1982.

Section 3. The City Attorney is hereby entitled to a
vacation of 30-working days per year. In the event the City
Attorney attends professional seminars or special conferences
of a professional nature during his vacation, he will be reim-
bursed for the cost of such seminar or conference and for his
travel, meal, and lodging expenses. In addition, the City
Attorney is hereby entitled to 12 days annual sick leave, but
will not receive time off for his birthday and for the floating
holiday afforded all other City employees.
