HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-82-0794RESOLUTION NO. 8 2- 7 9 4 A RESOLUTION CLOSING, A PORTION OF SOUTH- WEST 4TH STREET BETWEEN SOUTHWEST 3RD AVENUE AND A POINT 100 FEET EAST OF SOUTHWEST 4TH AVENUE, AND SOUTHWEST 5TH STREET BETWEEN SOUTHWEST 3RD AVENUE AND A POINT 150 FEET EAST OF SOUTHWEST 4TH AVENUE, TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC TO ALLOW DEVELOPMENT OF THE RIGHTS -OF -WAY AS PART OF JOSE MARTI RIVE RFRONT PARK. WHEREAS, the City of Miami in developing Jose Marti Riverfront Park on both sides of Southwest 4th Street be- tween Southwest 3rd Avenue and a point 100 feet east of Southwest 4th Avenue, and Southwest 5th Street between Southwest 3rd Avenue and a point 150 feet east of Southwest 4th Avenue; and WHEREAS, the plans for the project call for development of the rights -of -way as part of the park; and WHEREAS, there are no known objections from any interested parties to the closing of the affected portions of the streets to vehicular traffic to allow the development of the park in accordance with the plans; and WHEREAS, the property owners in the block to be closed have vehicular access up to their respective properties; and WHEREAS, the rights -of -way will remain open to all traffic other than vehicular. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Manager is hereby autho- rized to close Southwest 4th Street between Southwest 3rd Avenue and a point 100 feet east of Southwest 4th Avenue, and Southwest 5th Street between Southwest 3rd Avenue and a point 150 feet east of Southwest 4th Avenue to vehicular traffic to allow development of the Rights -of -way as part of Jose Marti Riverfront Park. Cather, Director Traffic Dep tment of Pub i Works (For Commission Meeting of September 9, 1982) The Department of Public Works recommends the adoption of a resolution closing S. W. 4th Street between S. W. 3rd Avenue and a point 100 feet east of 4th Avenue, and S. W. 5th Street between S. W. 3rd Avenue and a point 150 feet east of S. W. 4th Avenue to vehicular traffic to allow develop- ment of the rights -of -way as part of JOSE MARTI RIVERFRONT PARK Plans for the development of Jose Marti Riverfront Park previously approved by the Commission call for the closing of portions of S. W. 4th and 5th Streets to vehicular traffic and the development of the closed portion of the rights -of -way as part of the park. The plans have been well publicized and we have received no objec- tions to the -closings from nearby property oi,mers or the general public. The departments of Police and Fire have no objections to the closings. The streets will be closed to vehicular traffic only, pedestrian traffic will be allowed.
