(For Commission Meeting
of September 9, 1982)
The Department of Public Works recommends
the adoption of a resolution closing S. W.
4th Street between S. W. 3rd Avenue and a
point 100 feet east of 4th Avenue, and
S. W. 5th Street between S. W. 3rd Avenue
and a point 150 feet east of S. W. 4th
Avenue to vehicular traffic to allow develop-
ment of the rights -of -way as part of JOSE
MARTI RIVERFRONT PARK
Plans for the development of Jose Marti Riverfront Park previously
approved by the Commission call for the closing of portions of
S. W. 4th and 5th Streets to vehicular traffic and the development
of the closed portion of the rights -of -way as part of the park.
The plans have been well publicized and we have received no objec-
tions to the -closings from nearby property oi,mers or the general
public. The departments of Police and Fire have no objections to
the closings.
The streets will be closed to vehicular traffic only, pedestrian
traffic will be allowed. For greater clarity, I am attaching a
sketch showing the proposed closings.
