TN THE PFOPOSED AMOUNT OF $29,740, BASE BID "A" OF THE PROPOSAL, PLITS 4 ADDITIONAL UNITS OF ITEM 2, FOR MIAMARINA AND WATSON ISLAND - PILING REPLACEMENT; WITH MONIES THEREFOR. ALLOCATED FROM THE ACCOUNT ENTITLED "r�'IA`^IARINA AND t'ATSON ISLAND MARINAS - MAJOR MAINTENANCE" IN THE AMOUNT OF $29,740 TO COVER THE CONTRACT COST; ALLOCATING FROM SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF $3,860 TO COVER THE COST OF PROJECT EXPENSE; ALLOCATING FROM SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF $600 TO COVER THE COST OF SUCH ITEMS AS ADVERTISING, TESTING LABORATORIES, AND POSTAGE; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGED. TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SAID FIRM ITHEREA,S, sealed bids were received Au�*ust 24, 1982 for 'MIA"IAP.INA AND I-vATSON ISLAND - PILING REPLACEMENT; and 17HEREAS, the City Manager reports that the bid of Dock and ;larine Construction, Inc., for base bid "A" of the proposal, plus 4 additional units of iter. 2, is the lowest responsible bid, and recommends that a contract be awarded to said firm; and T,nIEREAS, the Capital Improvements Appropriation Ordinance No. 9353, as amended, was adopted on November 19, 1981, and monies are available for the proposed amount of the contract, project expense, and incidentals from the account entitled "Miamarina and Watson Island Marinas - Major Maintenance", as set forth under Section IX.c.ii.8 of said ordinance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMI•IISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI , FLORIDA: Section 1. The August 24, 1982 bid of Dock and Marine Construction, inc., in the nroposed amount of 829,740 for the project entitled I•IIA.MARINA AND WATSON ISLAND - PILING REPLACEMENT, for the hale bid "A" of the proposal, plus 4 additional units of Item 2, based on unit prices, is hereby accepted at the price stated therein, CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF S E P 9 1982 82 -'7 8 RUIOL MN NO .......«. »......,,.. C U Section 2. The amount of 529,740 is hereby allocated from the account entitled "Miamarina and Watson Island Marinas - 'Major Maintenance" to cover the cost of said contract. Section 3. The additional amount of $3,860 is hereby allocated from the aforesaid fund to cover the cost of project expense. Section 4. The additional amount of $600 is hereby allocated from the aforesaid fund to cover the cost of such incidental items as advertising, testing laboratories, and postage. Section 5. The City of Miami is hereby authorized to enter into a contract on behalf of The City of Miami with Dock and Marine Construction, Inc. for MIA11ARINA AND VATSON ISLAND - PILING REPLACL•'MENT, base bid "A" of the proposal, plus 4 additional units of item 2. Contract REFERENCES (For Commission Meeting ENCLOSURES of September 9, 1982) The Department of Public Works recommends adoption of the resolution accepting the bid received August 24, 1982 of Lock and Marine Construction, Inc. in the amount of $29,740; and authorizing the City Manager to enter into a contract on behalf of the City of Miami for IIIAMARINA AND WATSON ISLAND - PILING REPLACEMENT - BID "A". Bids were received August 24, 1982 for removing and replacing approximately 60 piles and repairing portions of a concrete walkway. As reflected in the tabulation of bids, the $29,740 bid of Dock and Marine Construction, Inc. is the lowest responsible bid for base bid "A" of the proposal, which represents work to be done at Miamarina. This amount includes 4 additional pile replacements, for a total of 26, as allowed for in the specifications. Funds have been allocated under the "Miamarina and Watson Island Marinas - Major Maintenance" account for the estimated amount of the contract, forproject expense, for such items as advertising, testing laboratories, and postage. Twelve contractors picked up plans and specifications; 4 contractors submitted bids.
