III Inter -American
Sugar Cane Seminar
As a result of several meetings with the organizers of the III Inter -
American Sugar- Cane Seminar- and after obtaining from there most of the
data requested in your letter to Mr. Diego Suarez, dated September 7,
1922, I would like to offer, for your consideration, the following
facts and recommendations.
I. The III Inter -American Sugar Cane Seminar, without any
doubL, is the type of scientific event that promotes
Miami as an international center- for technology transfer.
2. The foreign participants in the event are part of the
agri-business sector, which is emerging as an influential
segment of our international trade.
3. Our City and the South Florida area, as a whole, are
starting to take array from the New Orleans -BE ton Rouge area
a lot of the sugar cane agri-Lusiness activity.
4. The organizers of the event have been able to obtain support
in the form; of in -kind services from F.I.U. , L.S.U. , the
University of Florida, U.S.D.A. In addition, in -kind
services and financial support were obtained from
Inter -American Transport Equikwent Company.

1. In order to effectively penetrate the economics of the
emerging nations of the Caribbean, Latin America and
Africa, we should promote our agri-business sector.
2
We should limit our involvement to the minimum possible.
Our future involvement should be worked out, well in
advance, in order to comply with the management control
systems that we are in the process of developing, to

donations from the other entities co -sponsoring the seminar
and not exceeding our last year's financial involvewpnt
