RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND YOUTH
INDUSTRIES, INC. FOR THE CONTINUED OPERATION OF
AFRICAN SQUARE PARK ON A WEEK -TO -WEEK BASIS FOR
A PERIOD NOT TO EXCEED THREE MONTHS, EFFECTIVE
OCTOB17R 1, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1982; I4ITH
ALI, OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE PRIOR
CONTRACT WHICH EXPIRED SEPTEMBER 30, 1982 TO
GOVERN OPERATIONS DURING THE SAID PERIOD; ALLO-
CATING FUNDS THEREFOR IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO =_
EXCEED $58,809.50 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND
ACCOUNTS.
WHEREAS, the operational agreement between the City of
Miami and Youth Industries, Inc., for the operation of African
Square Park expired September 30, 1982; and

prior to entering into a long term agreement for continuance;
and
WHEREAS, it is deemed to he in the best interest of the
Citv to extend said agreement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City 'Manager is hereby authorized to
execute an agreement between the City and Youth Industries,
Inc. for the continued operation of African Square Park on
a week -to -week basis for a period not to exceed 3 months,
effective October 1. and ending December 31, 1982; with all
other terms and conditions of the prior contract which
expired September 30, 1982 to govern operations during the
said period with funds therefor in an amount not to exceed
$58,809.50 hereby allocated from Special Programs and
Accounts.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 9 day of DECEMBER , 1982.

ENCLOSURES
It is recommended that the City Manager be authorized
to execute an agreement between the City of Miami and
Youth Industries, Inc., for the operation of African
Square Park, with terms and conditions as below
described, as per the attached resolution.
The operational agreement between the City of Miami and Youth Industries,
Inc., for the operation of African Square Park expired September 30, 1982.
Pursuant to the City's consideration and execution of a long term agree-
ment for continuance of this operation, an evaluation period has been
recommended to provide the City the opportunity to insure this program
is at least equal or superior to existing recreation programs.
It is, therefore, recommended that a short term agreement be executed to
provide the City this avenue, with covenants as follows:
1) all terms and conditions, with the exception of funding, of the
1980-82 contract shall be in full form and effect) and
2) funding shall be in the amount not to exceed $58,809.50 as appro-
priated in Special Programs and Accountsi and
3) the terms of this agreement shall be on a week -to -week basis for
a period not to exceed three months beginning October 1 and ending
December 31, 1982.
