S3--65 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A BLUE RIBBON COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE FORTHWITH THE RECENT CIVIL DISTURBANCE IN THE OVERTOWN AREA AND REPORT TO THE CITY COMMISSION ON THE FACTS AND CAUSES THEREOF, COMPLAINTS OF PERSONS INVOLVED THEREIN, AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS CONCERNING THE PRESERVATION OF HARMONY, PEACE AND ORDER IN THE CITY OF MIAMI; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO PROVIDE STAFF SUPPORT TO SAID COMMITTEE; FURTHER ALLOCATING AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $10,000 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, CONTINGENT FUND, TO COVER NECESSARY EXPENSES INCURRED BY SAID COMMITTEE AND APPROVED BY THE CITY MANAGER. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE: COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. A select committee to be known as the "Overtown Blue Ribbon Committee" is hereby established to investigate forthwith the recent civil disturbance in the Overtown area of the City of Miami and report to the City Commission on the facts and occurrences surrounding said disturbance together with complaints of persons involved therein. Said committee shall also make recommendations to the City Commission concerning the preservation of harmony, peace and order in the City. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to provide staff support to said committee. Section 3. An amount not to exceed $10,000 is hereby allocated from Special Programs and Accounts, Contingent Fund, to cover necessary expenses incurred by said committee and approved by the City Manager.
