HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-83-0007J-83-73 rr RESOLUTION NO, 83-7 A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE DEEPEST GRATITUDE OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION FOR THE HOSPITALITY EXTENDED BY THE CITY OF FLINT, MICHIGAN, AND FOR THE ASSISTANCE RENDERED BY FLINT OFFICIALS TO MEMBERS OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AND THE MIAMI CITY ADMINISTRATION WHO RECENTLY INSPECTED FLINT'S NEW PROGRAM INVOLVING COMPUTERIZED EQUIPMENT FOR TRAINING OF CITY POLICE OFFICERS IN STRESS SITUATIONS; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO FORWARD A COPY OF THE HEREIN RESOLUTION TO THE CITY OF FLINT. WHEREAS, on January 11-12, 1983, Vice -Mayor J. L. Plummer and City Commissioner Miller J. Dawkins visited Flint, Michigan on official business together with City Manager Howard V. Gary, Police Chief Kenneth I. Harms and Deputy Police Chief Clarence Dickson; and WHEREAS, all of the above individuals were accorded the warmest reception by the officials of the City of Flint and others during their stay; and '►WHEREAS, the gracious courtesies and privileges extended by officials in Flint, Michigan need to be formally recognized; in particular but not limited to the following: Mayor James Rutherford; Police Chief Max Darbin; Miles White, President of the Mott Foundation; Walter Patterson, President of September Associates; Mel Brennan, Chairperson of the Blue Ribbon Task Force; and Pat Lynn, Justice Department Coordinator for Urban Affairs; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The deepest gratitude, on the part of the Miami City Commission, is hereby expressed to the officials of the City of Flint, Michigan, for the hospitality and help they extended to members of the Miami City Commission and members of Miami's Administrative staff during an official visit on January 11-12, 1983, to inspect a new program conducted by the City of Flint involving computerized equipment for the training of police officers in stress situations. Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of the herein Resolution to the City of Flint. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 13th day of January, 1983. Maurice A. Ferre MAURICE A.
