politan Dade County Contract No. 9124,
at a total cost of $251,999.16.
Pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received January 12,
1983 for furnishing Light Automotive Vehicles on a Contract Basis
for one year to the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance.
Invitations were mailed to 48 potential suppliers and 17 bids were
received with four (4) bids received for this particular requirement,
as listed on the award of bid.
There is a currently effective Metropolitan Dade County Contract
with Max Grosso Chrysler -Plymouth to furnish 1983 Police Model
Mid -size Sedans. The contract is valid for a period from December
8, 1982 through April 15, 1983. Specifications for this requirement
are equal to those developed by the City of Miami Department of
Building and Vehicle Maintenance.
The rejection of the bids received by the City, and the purchase of
this requirement under Metropolitan Dade County Contract No. 9124,
results in a savings of nearly $500 per vehicle over the lowest City
bid, for a total cost savings of approximately $17,000.00.
This recommendation provides for the replacement of 27 automobiles
in poor condition and have reached the established replacement
criteria. Seven automobiles are recommended for purchase to fulfill
new requirements of the Department of Police.
