AT A TOTAL ESTIMATED COST OF $4,075.20 FOR FURNISHING UNIFORM JACKETS AND TEE SHIRTS ON A CONTRACT BASIS FOR ONE YEAR TO THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES AT A TOTAL ESTIMATED COST OF $ 32,005.20; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1982-83 OPERATING BUDGET OF THAT DEPARTMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THIS EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received January 21, 1983 for the furnishing of Uniform Jackets and Tee Shirts on a contract basis to the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 33 potential suppliers and 9 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1982-83 Operating Budget; and WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services for the purpose of outfitting uniformed personnel; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services recommend that the bids received from Lamar Uniforms and Miami Silk Screen Industries, Inc. be accepted as the most advantageous bids to the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY COMR::.112014 MEETING OF MAR 18 1983 �Fiflya!tn� 4 Section 1. The January 21, 1983 bids of Lamar Uniforms at an estimated cost of $27,930.00 and Miami Silk Screen Industries, Inc. at an estimated cost of $4,075.20 for furnishing Uniform Jackets and Tee Shirts on a contract basis for one year to the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services at a total estimated cost of $32,005.20 are hereby accepted with funds there- for hereby allocated from the 1982-83 Operating Budget of that Department. Brice, Fire, Rescue and ; vices SUBJECT Recommendation for Resolution and Award of Bid No. 82/83-22 - Zippered Jackets and Tee Shirts REFERENCES ENCLOSURES.Award of Bid, Resolution, and Tabulation It is recommended that the award of bid and a resolution be passed accepting the most advantageous bid as received from Lamar Uniforms for furnishing zippered jackets for one year on a contract basis at a total estimated cost of $27,930. It is further recommended that the award of bid and a resolution be passed accepting the most advantageous bid as received from Miami Silk Screen for furnishing crew neck tee shirts for one year on a contract basis at a total estimated cost of $4,075.20, for a total of $32,005.20. We have discontinued the issuance of cool weather protection several years ago and are reinstituting the issuance of a complete uniform with the pur- chase of these zippered jackets. The crew neck tee shirts will be issued for use during physical fitness train- ing programs to ensure a neat, uniform appearance. However, it is rec- ommended that the award be made to Lamar Uniforms, which can provide local service (fitting) and quicker delivery at a cost of only fifteen cents ($0.15) per unit over the lowest bid. The lowest bid from Julie Hat Company for item 2, Tee -Shirt, is not acceptable as it fails to meet the fabric specification of 50% combed cotton. The next lowest bidder, for this item, Miami Silk Screen, meets all specifications and is recommended. For item 3, baseball caps, an 8-stitch, pro- style visor was specified. None of the bids received conforms to specifications. This item will be rebid.
