IN THE PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $93,800, BASE BID OF THE PROPOSAL, FOR M.M.P.D. - GARAGE FLOOR RESURFACING; WITH MONIES THEREFOR ALLOCATED FROM THE "POLICE PARKING GARAGE IMPROVEMENT" ACCOUNT IN THE AMOUNT OF $93,800 TO COVER THE CONTRACT COST; ALLOCATING FROM SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF $12,194 TO COVER THE COST OF PROJECT EXPENSE; ALLOCATING FROM SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF $1,876 TO COVER THE COST OF SUCH ITEMS AS ADVERTISING, TESTING LABORATORIES, AND POSTAGE; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SAID FIRM WHEREAS, sealed bids were received February 8, 1983 for M.M.P.D. - GARAGE FLOOR RESURFACING; and WHEREAS, the City Manager reports that the bid of ACI-Century, Inc., for the base bid of the proposal, is the lowest responsible bid, and recommends that a contract be awarded to said firm; and WHEREAS, the Capital Improvements Appropriation Ordinance No. 9534, as amended, was adopted on Decem- ber 9, 1982, and monies are available for the proposed amount of the contract, project expense, and incidentals from the account entitled "Police Parking Garage Improvement", as set forth under Section VII, Item B.4, of said ordinance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The February 8, 1983 bid of ACI- Century, Inc., in the proposed amount of $93,800, for the project entitled M.M.P.D. - GARAGE FLOOR RESURFACING, for the base bid of the proposal, based on lump sum prices, is hereby accepted at the price stated therein. Section 3. The additional amount of $12,194 is hereby allocated from the aforesaid fund to cover the cost of project expense. Section 4. The additional amount of $1,876 is hereby allocated from the aforesaid fund to cover the cost of such incidental items as advertising, testing laboratories, and postage. Section 5. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract on behalf of The City of Miami with ACI-Century, Inc. for M.M.P.D. - GARAGE FLOOR RESURFACING, base bid of the proposal. The Department of Public Works recommends adoption of the resolution accepting the bid of ACI-Century, Inc. received February 8, 1983,for the base bid of the proposal, in the amount of $93,800; and authorizing the City Manager to enter into a contract on behalf of the City of Miami for M.M.P.D. - GARAGE FLOOR RESURFACING. Bids were received on February 8, 1983 for M.M.P.D. - GARAGE FLOOR RESURFACING. This project consists of cleaning and installing a protective coating on the floor of the garage. Approximately six years after its construction, the floors at the M.M.P.D. parking garage are dirty and slick. Minor cracking allows oil and other liquids to drip on vehicles on floors below. This project calls for the resurfacing of the floors. As reflected in the tabulation of bids, the $93,800 bid of ACI-Century, Inc. is the lowest responsible bid for the base bid of the proposal. Funds have been allocated under the "Police Parking Garage Improvement" account for project expense, for such items as advertising, testing laboratories, and postage. A total of 112 advertisements were mailed out; 14 contractors picked up plans and specifications; and 6 contractors submitted bids.
