A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
PURSUANT TO SECTION 18-85(A) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA, AS AMENDED ("CITY CODE"), BY A FOUR FIFTHS (4/5THS)
AFFIRMATIVE VOTE, AFTER AN ADVERTISED PUBLIC HEARING,
RATIFYING, APPROVING, AND CONFIRMING THE CITY MANAGER'S
FINDING, ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED AS EXHIBIT "A," THAT
COMPETITIVE NEGOTIATION METHODS AND PROCEDURES ARE NOT
PRACTICABLE OR ADVANTAGEOUS FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY");
WAIVING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR SAID PROCEDURES; AUTHORIZING
THE ALLOCATION OF FUNDS FROM THE OFFICE OF THE CITY
MANAGER'S VENTURE MIAMI INITIATIVE ACCOUNT NO.
00001.150009.882000.0000.00000 IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THREE
HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($300,000.00) TO INIT CORPORATION, A
FLORIDA NOT FOR PROFIT CORPORATION ("INIT"), TO ASSIST WITH THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A MIAMI CHAPTER WHICH WILL EXPAND INIT'S
SIGNATURE EXPERIMENTAL LEARNING AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT
PROGRAM; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE
AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY, INCLUDING
EXTENSIONS, RENEWALS AND MODIFICATIONS, ALL FORMS
ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR THE PURPOSE STATED
HEREIN.

WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has a deep interest in supporting residents who
have an interest in technology related careers; and
WHEREAS, since 2014, INIT Corporation, a Florida not for profit corporation ("INIT"),
has empowered under -represented communities to launch successful careers in technology,
closing the talent gap and helping low-income families achieve economic mobility and has
helped thousands of students obtain jobs in technology; and
WHEREAS, INIT has established Chapters within schools, colleges, and municipalities
which provide INIT's signature experimental learning and career development program
("Program") for free within their communities; and
WHEREAS, these Programs attract thousands of individuals every year, helping them
gain technical skills, work on projects, improve resumes, prepare for interviews, connect with
industry and so much more; and
WHEREAS, the Program has helped thousands of students through experimental
learning and provided an opportunity to interview and obtain jobs with top companies such as
Google, Microsoft, Meta, and many more; and

WHEREAS, the City wishes to allocate an amount not to exceed Three Hundred
Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00) ("Funds") to assist with expanding the Program and
establishing a Miami Chapter ("Purpose"); and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 18-85(a) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as
amended ("City Code"), the City Manager has made a written finding, attached and
incorporated as Exhibit "A," that competitive negotiation methods and procedures are not
practicable or advantageous for the City's provision of said Funds for the Program; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager is requesting authority from the City Commission to
negotiate and execute any and all documents necessary, in a form acceptable to the City
Attorney, for said allocation of Funds for the Program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Pursuant to Section 18-85(a) of the City Code, by a four -fifths (4/5ths)
affirmative vote, after an advertised public hearing, the City Manager's written finding, attached
and incorporated as Exhibit "A," that competitive negotiation methods and procedures are not
practicable or advantageous for the City's provision of said Funds for the Program and waiving
the requirements for said procedures, are hereby ratified, approved, and confirmed.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to allocate the Funds from the City
Manager's Venture Miami Initiative Account No. 00001.150009.882000.0000.00000 to INIT to
expand the Program for the Purpose stated herein.
Section 4. The City Manager is further authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all
documents necessary, including extensions, renewals and modifications, all in forms acceptable
to the City Attorney, for said purpose.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
