HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-83-0261M.261 1 4 RESOLUTION NO. 83- 261 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE HUMAN RIGHTS OF PERSONS LIVING IN THIS COUNTRY WHO HAVE FLED THE COUNTRY Of NICARAGUA BE PROTECTED IN THE SAME MANNER AS THE RIGHTS OF OTHER PERSONS WHO HAVE FLED FROM COMMUNIST COUNTRIES; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO FORWARD A COPY OF THE HEREIN RESOLUTION TO DESIGNATED OFFICIALS. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAM1, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Commission respectfully requests that the human rights of persons living in this country who fled the country of Nicaragua be protected in the same manner as the rights of other persons who have fled from communist countries. Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby instructed to send a copy of this Resolution to the Director of Immigration and Naturalization Service in Miami, Florida, as well as to the Director of Immigration and Naturalization Service in Washington, D.C. Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby instructed to send a copy of this Resolution to the President of the United States and to each U.S. Senator from Florida, as well as to the four members of the U.S. House of Representatives representing por- tions of Dade County, Florida.
