Funding Request
This department has received a request letter
from Pro Arte Grateli asking for a cash match
of $20,085 as aid in the new production of
Cecilia Valdez, a cuban zarzuela commemorating
the society's 15th anniversary. Performances
will be held July 22, 23, and 24, 1983, at
Dade County Auditorium. They offer 1,000 free
tickets for the July 22nd performance as well
as special discount for students for all three
performances.
Although they do not meet the requirements of the Festival -ory
committee, the Pro Arte Grateli enjoys a brilliant track Lo- ? as
an arts presenting organization serving the spanish speaki nu-
nity and all music lovers with low cost first rate entert:,' It.
They have been the recipients of several Federal, State and ;'-'.e
County grants in the past as well as solid local corporate ,.,rt.
Their match to the recommended level of City funding is 2 to I.
City sponsorship would allow low income and senior citizcl-,-; ; :t.tend
free of charge. City sponsorship will also allow special -:- .lint
tickets to students.
Therefore, this department recommends cosponsorship in the I of
ticket purchase for free distribution by the City among ::ne
and elderly residents and a special student discount rate f oll
three performances.

Sociedad Pro Arte Grateli is seeking sponsorship from the City for
the City for the amount of $20,085 as aid in production, for 3
performances of Cecilia Valdez a Cuban zarzuela. In return they
will give the City 1,000 free tickets for free distribution to the
July 22nd performance, as well as special discount for students
for the 23rd and 24th performances.
Although this request does not meet the requirements of the festival
advisory committee, yet, this organization has a long and presti-
gious history in serving the arts community. They also present
a 2 to 1 match in their request to the City.
Therefore, this department recommends sponsorship in the form of
the purchasing of tickets for free distribution and a special
student discount rate.

Dear Mr. Perez,
As you probably know, Sociedad Pro Arte Grateli will be celebrating
its 15th ANNIVERSARY this year and we would like to give our
audience and friends a very special presentation for this occasion.
We have chosen to present an ALL NEW PRODUCTION of the very famous
Cuban Zarzuela "CECILIA VALDES"- dates July 22nd, 23rd and 24th at
8:00 p.m.- Dade County Auditorium.
Since this will be such a special performance, we would like to
offer 1,000 FREE TICKETS to be distributed by the City of Miami
amongst minorities, aged and school children for the July 22nd
dress performance and we would also like to offer special student
prices for the 23rd and 24th of July performances.
For this reason, we are asking the City's help in financing our
deficit which you will see is approximately $20,085.00. This
amount was reached at as follows:
