FOR FURNISHING ONE TRANSMISSION TEST BENCH TO THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AT A TOTAL COST OF $6,742.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1982-83 OPERATING BUDGET OF THAT DEPARTMENT; AUTHOR- IZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS _ EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received February 11, 1983 for the furnishing of One Transmission Test Bench to the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 27 potential suppliers and 3 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1982-83 Operating Budget; and WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance for the purpose of repairing City vehicles presently being serviced by outside vendors; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance recommend that the bid received from Aidco, Inc. be accepted as the most advantageous bid to the Cityl NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: �irr c:oh1TliISSION GF i A P R 6 1983 0 Section 1. The February 11, 1983 bid of Aidco, Inc. for furnishing one Transmission Test Bench to the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance at a total cost of $6,742.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1982-83 Operating Budget of that Department. Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Purchasing Agent to issue a Purchase Order for this equipment. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of April 1983. RECOMMENDATION: IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE AWARD BE MADE TO AIDCO, INC. IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $6,742.00. Gary -. .` March 3, 1983 LE City Manager D1r for Building and ehicle Maintenance Purchase of Transmission Test Bench. One It is recommended that a resolution be passed authorizing the purchase of a Transmission Test _ Bench from Aidco Inc, the lowest acceptable bidder. The price is $6,742.00. Pursuant to public notice, three bids were received on January 26, 1983 for providing a Transmission Test Bench for the Depart- ment of Building and Vehicle Maintenance. This item is a new and additional piece of shop equipment for the Heavy_ Equipment Maintenance Division. It will be used to calibrate and adjust valve bodies in Allison Automatic Transmissions. The addition of this equipment will enable us to perform a service, in-house, which currently is being accomplished by an outside vendor. There is only one vendor currently known who performs this service locally and the price for this service has tripled in a one year period. At the current cost for the outside service the purchase price of this equipment will be recovered in twelve months. Funds for this purchase are available within the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance current operating budget. 3% 831 -3®0
