City of Miami 3500 Pan American Drive Miami FL 33133 Dear Mr. Garry: The Youth Symphony is planning a concert in Gusman Cultural Center Auditorium (downtown) for the afternoon of June 5. 1983. It is the culmination of our year, and also of our competition for composers. "New Music for Youth Orchestras", funded in part by the State of -Florida. Department of State. Division of Cultural Affairs, and the National Endov.-ment for the Arts. The competition has not; been narrowed dorm to three scores. all of which will be performed at the June 5 concert by the Youth Symphony. Our judges (all from outside of Florida) will be present to rank the compositions and award the prizes ($1000 for first, $600 for second, and $400 for third). This was a state-wide contest, and the compositions submitted were of high quality, and suitable for Youth Symphony, in the opinion of the judges. In addition, several other works will be performed on the concert, besides the three "World Premieres". I am writing to ask about the possibility of a fee waiver for the use of the auditorium for that concert on June 5, 19F3. I understand that the fee is $850.00. and that there are other needs which we must supply, namely, security, stage hands, piano, etc. I hope that this request is a reasonable one, and I want to thank you for possibly* becoming involved in this exciting project. Sincerely Yours, ..;. Kenneth H. Woodside WXBOX 4.Z1125 MIAMI. FLOR1111 3*1143 President 4vi$doV0 83-39 , _
