TILE
- EJE-- T Resolution authorizing the City
Manager to execute lease for one additior
al unit for the word processing system
in the Law Department c
MEcEREN_EE
E-4 LLGE-1RES 1
Attached is a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute
a lease for one additional unit for the word processing system
currently in place in the Law Department. The Resolution seeks
no additional funding, but merely uses monies already allocated
to the Law Department. As of the last BE200 report, dated April
17, 1983, this department was operating at a surplus of some
$92,000.00. The requested lease is for the sum of $221.91 per
month, or slightly more than $1000.00 during the balance of this
fiscal year.
This additional unit is needed in light of the fact that additional
personnel has been hired to conduct functions previously handled
by outside counsel, at an enormous additional expense to the City.
Specifically, in-house attorneys have replaced or are replacing
outside counsel in the following areas: (a) The Parkwest/Over-
town redevelopment project; (b) The cable communications area;
and suits against the City, not a single one of which has been
referred to outside counsel since you appointed me as City Attorney
last July.
