RESOLUTION NO.

A RESOLUTION URGING THE APPROPRIATE OFFICIALS
OF DADE COUNTY TO INCREASE THE RATE OF PAY FOR
ELECTION WORKERS IN ORDER TO ADEQUATELY REFLECT
THE INCREASED COST OF LIVING AND TO MORE EnUIT-
ABLY COMPENSATE SAID ELECTION VORKERS FOR THEIR
LABOR.
WHEREAS, election workers work 14 hours per day for a flat
amount of pay, and
WHEREAS, the rate of pay received by election workers in
Dade County is one of the lowest in the State of Flori(3a, and
WHEREAS, election workers are also required to participate
in an orientation or briefing session before each election with-
out being paid for such participation.
NOS,,',THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI:
Section 1. The appropriate officials of Dade Count%, are
hereby urged to increase the rate of pay for election workers
in order to adequately reflect the increased cost of livinr
and to more equitably compensate said election workers for their
labor.
