L93--4,15 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING FIVE (5) INDIVIDUALS TO THE CITY OF MIAMI MINORITY PROCUREMENT COMPLIANCE BOARD, APPOINTING THE BOARD'S CHAIRMAN, AND DEFINING THE BOARD'S RESPONSI- BILITIES, AS THOSE CONTAINED IN ORDINANCE NO. 9530, ADOPTED DECEMBER 9, 1982 WIiEREAS, on December 9, 1982, upon passage and adoption of Ordinance No. 9530, the Commission of the City of Miami created the Minority Procurement Compliance Board to monitor the fifty percent (50%) minority set -aside of the total dollar volume of all contracts for the design, development, construc- tion, management and operation of Unified Development Projects, Public Works and Public Facilities for the City; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 9530 requires that the Minority Procurement Compliance Board consist of five (5) members to be appointed to four-year terms by the City Commission; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 9530 specifies that one (1) member of the Board shall be a City Commissioner; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 9530 requires that the City of Miami Commission appoint the Chairman of the Board; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 9530 specifies that the City of Miami Commission approve the Board's procedures and annually review the observance of the fifty percent (500) set -aside; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami is currently acceptin,j and re- questing proposals for Public IVOrks and Public Facilities Projects to which Ordinance No. 9530 applies; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. PIayor Maurice A. Ferre 0 City Commissioner, is here- by appointed to the Minority Procurement Board. Section 2. The following four (4) individuals are hereby appointed to four-year terms on the Minority Procurement Board: George Knox William Chapman Anita Cofino Barry Kutun cia"I COMh2ISSI0 I I!!AY 31 1983 83-4 FA Section 3. (not selected) is hereby appointed Chairperson of the Board. Section 4. The City Manager is instructed to assist the Minority Procurement Board in its development of procedures and to insure that the board understand and meet its obligations as defined in Ordinance No. 9530. No. 9530 Ordinance No. 9530, adopted December 9, 1982, established a Minority Procurement Compliance Board to monitor the fifty percent (50%) set -aside of the total dollar volume of all contracts for the design, development, construction, management, or operation of unified development projects, public works and public facilities for the City. The five -member City Commission apointed board, one member of which is required to be a Commissioner, will serve terms of four years. The ordinance stipulates that the City Commission will also appoint the Chairperson, approve the Board's procedures and annually review observance of_Ordinance No. 9530's requirements. Appointments to the Minority Procurement Compliance Board will be scheduled on the City Commission Agenda for- May 12, 1983. 83-44"
