RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT
OF PARKS TO REQUEST FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
UNDER THF STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
NATURAL RESOURCES, RECREATION DEVELOPMENT
ASSISTANCE PROGRAM; ALLOCATING $198,501)
TO MEET THE GRANT MATCHING FUNDS
REQUIREMENTS AND AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE
STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL
RESOURCES TO AID TN THE DEVELOPMENT OF
FORT DALLAS PARK.
WHEREAS, Florida State Government has ongoinq and
continuing programs for the betterment of local communities
involving grants or awards of state monies; and
WHEREAS, the aforesaid state programs require timely
submission of applications by local lovernmental units; and
WHEREAS, this program will provide necessary funds to
construct and develop Fort Dallas Park; and
WHEREAS, the City a[ Miami is obliqated to provide
matchinq funds to satisfy the grant requirements; and
WHEREAS, the Dallas Parc Hotel Association has committed
$150,000 to construct and improve Fort Dallas Park; and
WHEREAS, a sum of $48,500 was committed from the City of
Miami/University of Miami James L. Knight International
Center Parking Ramp Capital Project Fund for the restoration
of the facade of the historic Butler Building located in Fort
Dallas Park, in accordance with Resolution No. 80-317 adopted
April 24, 1980; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami will satisfy the matching
funds requirements with the foregoing sums of monies totaling
S198,500;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:

Section 1. The Department of Parks is hereby authorized
to make application for a grant to the State of Florida
Department of Natural Resources, Recreation Development
Assistance Program, to aid in the development and
construction of Fort Dallas Park.
Section 2. The Department of Parks is hereby authorized
and directed to file such application with the Florida
Deoartrinent
of
Natural
Resources to
provide
additional
information
and
to
furnish
such documents
as may
be required
by said Department.
Section 3. The sum of $198,500 ($150,000 committed by
the Dallas Parc Hotel Association and $48,500 committted from
the City of Miami/University of Miami Janes L. Knight
International Center Parking Ramp Capital Project Fund) is

ereby allocated to satisfy matching funds requirements
hereunder.

ENCLOSURES.
"It is recommended that the Department of
Parks be authorized to submit a grant
application and allocating funds from
the State Department of Natural Resources
under the Florida Recreation Development
Program, and that an allocation be made in
the amount of $198,500.00 to meet the
grant matching requirements."
The Department of Parks, in an effort to financially facilitate
development and construction of Fort Dallas Park, is seeking
grant funds from the State of Florida Department of Natural
Resources Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program.
The Dallas Parc Hotel Association has committed $150,000.00
to construct and improve Fort Dallas Park, and a sum of
$48,500.00 was committed from the City of Miami/University of
Miami James L. Knight International Center Parking Ramp Capital
Project Fund for the restoration of the facade of the historic
Butler Building presently located in the park. The $198,500.00
sum of the foregoing commitments will be used to satisfy the
grant matching requirements.
