A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY 11%NAGER TO ENTER INTO AN
AIMENDIIENT TO THE EXISTING ORIGINAL. AGREEMENT BETWI:F.ti THE CITY
OF MIAMI AND THE PUBLIC HEALTH TRUST OF DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA,
WHICH OPERATES JACKSON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, FOR THE COORDINATION
OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE RESCUE DIVISION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES
DEPARTMENT, 14HICH EXTENDS THIS AGREEMENT FOR A PERIOD OF THE
TWO (2) FISCAL YEARS OF 1983/84 AND 1984/85, SUBSTANTIALLY IN
ACCORDANCL•' WITH THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS SET FORTH IN THE
ORIGINAL AGREEMENT EXCEPT THAT THE ANNUAL COMPENSATION WHICH
IS CURRENTLY $15,000 WILL BE SUBJECT TO ,MUTUAL AGREEMENT PRIOR
TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF EACH YEAR, WITH FUNDS THEREFOR TO BE
PROVIDED IN THE FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES DEPART-
MENT'S GENERAL OPERATING BUDGET AND SPECIAL REVENUE BUDGET.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami and the Public Health Trust of Dade County,
Florida, which operates Jackson Memorial Hospital, desire to cooperate to pro-
vide services in connection with the Emergency Medical Services provided by
the Rescue Division of the City of :Miami Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services
Department; and
WHEREAS, funds will be provided in the Fire, Rescue and Inspection
Services Department's General Operating Budget and Special Revenue Budget;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CO'DMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into the
attached Amendment to the existing original Agreement between the Public
Health Trust of Dade County, Florida, which operates Jackson Memorial Hospital.,
for the coordination of the Emergency Medical Services provided by the Rescue
Division of the City of Miami Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services Department,
which extends this Agreement for a period of the two (2) fiscal years of 1983/84
and 1984/85, substantially in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth
therein, except that the annual compensation which Is currently $15,000, will
be subject to mutual agreement prior to the commencement of each year, with funds
to be provided in the Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services Department's General
Operating Budget and Special Revenue Budget.

1. Paragraph C. 1., page 2, is deleted and is superseded by the
following:
To pay the TRUST as ccnpc-isaticn for services, the annual sui;, of
fifteen thcusand dollars (`:15,000.00) payable in equal q,.;ar-terly
installments, to be us,' as sec-ed appropriate by the TRUST, for
the period October 1, .-�2 through September 30, 190-3. Co -,sensation
for the two subsequent years of this Agreer--tent shall be r-,utually
agreed upon by both parties prior to the com.-encement of each year,
2. Paragraph D.5, page 4,is deleted and is superseded by the following:
That this Agreer,-,errt -.hall coT.-ence on October 1, 1982 and shall
terminate on September 30, 1985; provided however, that any party
may cancel the hgree;nent by giving sixty (50) days notice in writing
to all other parties by certified mail, return receipt requested.
!notice is effective upon receipt.
3. All of the provisions of the original Agreement not affected by
this Addendum rec:ain applicable and in full force and effect.

to be the Fire Rescue Medical IDirector, said designaticn which shall
be acceptable to the CITY. Support shall be provided by the Medical
D1'rectOrin accordance with a-pplicable st2te and local laws and regulations
dealing with c:':4=rgency me6ical services. Said Medical Director (or his
alternate) shall supervise house staff --,E-::hers of HOSPITAL who are
provided by the TRUST for rre:7,t response to emergency T:,edical radio
transmissions frc= CITY FIRE DEPARP-',Z!'- RESCUE UNITS.
3. To sup;ort the '-edical Director by providing the resources and facilities
to provide training and case audit and revicw for system paramedics.
4. To provide alti :tte piysici._ns,-acceptable to the Medical Director,
TRI:ST, and to CITY, in order to endeavor to "assure tl;at ciialified
relief supervision is n_lwa•_:s nrcvi: ed t'uring the Modica 1 Director's

D. Both parties agree that:

It is recommended that the City Commission authorize
the City Manager to enter into an Amendment to the
existing original Agreement between the City of Miami
and the Public Health Trust of Dade County, extending
this Agreement for a period of two (2) fiscal years
of 1983/84 and 1984/85, substantially in accordance
with the terms and conditions set forth in the original
Agreement except that the annual compensation, which is
currently $15,000 will be subject to the mutual -agree-
ment of all parties prior to the commencement of each
year, with funds to be continued to be provided in the
Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services Department's
General Operating Budget and Special Revenue Budget.
The Amendment forwarded herewith provides that the Public Health Trust of
Dade County, Florida, which operates Jackson Memorial Hospital, will continue
to provide support in the form of licensed staff physicians from Jackson
Memorial Hospital to be available on a 24-hour basis for prompt response to
emergency medical radio transmissions for Fire -Rescue units. A qualified
staff physician of the hospital will continue to be designated as Fire
Rescue Medical Director to supervise the staff physicians of the hospital
for response to emergency medical radio transmissions from our Fire -Rescue
units.
The annual compensation for this fiscal year of 1982/83 is $15,000, with
funds provided in the departmental general operating budget and Special
Revenue Budget (Telephone Franchise). The annual compensation for the two
(2) years covered in this amendment will be mutually agreed upon prior to
the commencement of each year.
