equipment, partitions and spotlights to the Department. of
Ruildinq and Vehicle Maintenance.; and
WHEREAS, invitations wore mailecd to 30 potential
suppliers anti 11 bids were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are availablo in the
1 9 8 2 - 8 3 0peratinq Rudget. of the Departments of Police and
Building and Vehicle Maintenance; anti
WHEREAS, this equipment will. he used by the Department.
of Building and Vehicle Maintenance fur the purpose of
equippinq new and additional police vehicIfs and to replace
worn equipment; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Department of Building
and Vehicle Maintenance rer_ommend that the bids received from
Law Enforcement Equipment Co. and Public Safety Devices, Inc.
he accepted as the mast advantageous hinds to the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, HI: II RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Sect inn 1. The March 29, 1983 bids of Law Fnforr_ement
Equipment Co., for furnishing 16 police van partitions at a
cost of $3,424, and Public Safety Devices, Inc., for
furnishing 24 spotlights at a cost of $451.20, to the

Department of rjuilding and Vahi.cle Maintenance at a total
cast. of $3,875.20, are lierehv acceptf,d with funds therefor
hereby allocated from the 11392-83 Operating 9udgets of the
Departments of PnIir_e and 9uiIding and Vehicle Iaintenance.
Section 2. The City flanager is herehv authorized to
instruct the Purchasing Agent. to i!3SIJe Purchase Orders for
this egijipment .

THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE
RECOMMENDS THAT A RESOLUTION BE PASSED ACCEPTING AS
THE MOST ADVANTAGEOUS BIDS, THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
BID of Law Enforcement Equipment Co. FOR 16 POLICE
VAN PARTITIONS, AT A COST OF $3,424; BID OF PUBLIC
SAFETY DEVICE, INC. FOR 24 HAND HELD SPOTLIGHTS,
AT A COST OF $451.20; BID OF LAWMEN's & SHOOTERS
SUPPLY, INC., FOR 30 ROOF MOUNTED LGIHT BAR PACK-
AGES, AT A COST $14,440.80; BID OF LAidMEN'S &
SHOOTERS SUPPLY, INC. FOR 16 COMPLETE ELECTRONIC
SIRENS, AT A COST OF $4,601.12; AT A TOTAL COST OF
$22,917.12; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE
CURRENT OPERATING BUDGETS OF THE MIAMI POLICE DE-
PARTMENT AND THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND VEHI-
CLE MAINTENANCE.
Eleven bids were received to furnish partitions, light bars, sirens and
spotlights to be installed on City of Miami police vehicles, by the Motor
Pool Maintenance Division.
With the exception of the electronic siren package, all of the above equip-
ment will be utilized to equip new and additional police vehicles. The
electronic sirens will be used to replace existing equipment which is no
longer repairable.
These units will be warranted for a 24 month period against defects in
material and workmanship.
Funds for this purchase are available in the current operating budgets of the
Police Department and the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance.

The low bid of Mars Signal Light Co. for item
2, Roof -mounted Light Bar Package, is not
acceptable as it fails to meet the specifica-
tions requiring that sirens, speakers, micro-
phone and cables be included in the package.
All other Bids meet the specifications.

INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $19,041.92; AND
PUBLIC SAFETY DEVICES, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF
$451.20 FOR A TOTAL AMOUNT OF $22,917.12.
