HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-83-0491f, RESOLUTION NO. �,3~-'19 A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING S1,283,644 OF NINTH YEAR COM- t-1UNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS PREVIOUSLY APPRO- PRIATED BY ORDINANCE NO. 9639 , ADOPTED JUNE 9TH, 1983, TO PREVIOUSLY APPROVED SOCIAL SERVICE PRO- GRAMS AND ONE (1) HISTORIC PRESERVATION PROGRAM FOR THE PERIOD COMMENCING JULY 1, 1983 AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1984, FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENTS WITH CERTAIN SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES FOR SAID APPROVED PROJECTS. WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 83-334 on April 6, 1983, thereby authorizing the City Manager to submit a grant application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the proposed Community Development Block Grant Program during 1983-84, and WHEREAS, funds have previously been appropriated by Ordinance No. 9639 , passed and adopted June 9 , 1983, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. $1,283,644 of Ninth Year Community Development Block Grant funds, previously appropriated by Ordinance No. 9639 adopt- ed June 9 , 1983, are hereby allocated as specified below: AGENCY/PROJECT Action Community Center, Inc. Gary City Manager Dena Spillman, Director Community Development Department May 18, 1983 Resolution Allocating Ninth Year Community Development Funds to Approved Social Service Agencies Agenda Item for June 15, 1983 Citv Commission Meeting It is recommended that the City Commission adopt a resolution allocating 9th Year Com- munity Development Block Grant Funds to previously approved social service and historic preservation agencies for the period covering July 1, 1983 - June 30, 1984. Funding for these agencies is included in the City's 9th Year Community Development Block Grant application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), which was approved by the City Commission April 6, 1983 (Resolution No. 83-334). The City Commission will also be voting on an ordinance at the June 15, 1983 meeting which appropriates $10,005,000 for the Community Development Block Grant (Ninth Year). From the aforementioned figure, �1,283,644 has been appropriated for social service and historic preservation agencies. Pending the adoption of the ordinance, it is recommended that the City Com- mission adopt the attached Resolution at its June 15, 1983 fleeting. The Resolution is attached. Failure to adopt this resolution will result in the termination of these social service programs on July 1, 1983. DS:mb End . 83-4911
