IN THE PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $58,250, BASE BID PLUS ADDITIVE ITEM A OF THE PROPOSAL, FOR MIAMI SPRINGS GOLF COURSE - CART STORAGE FACILITY; WITH MONIES THEREFOR ALLOCATED FROM THE "MIAMI SPRINGS GOLF COURSE - ELECTRIC GOLF CART STORAGE FACILITY" ACCOUNT IN THE AMOUNT OF $58,250 TO COVER THE CONTRACT COST; ALLOCATING FROM SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF $6,000 TO COVER THE COST OF PROJECT EXPENSE; ALLOCATING FROM SAID FUND THE AMOUNT OF $750 TO COVER THE COST OF SUCH ITEMS AS ADVERTISING, TESTING LABORATORIES, AND POSTAGE; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SAID FIRM WHEREAS, sealed bids were received May 24, 1983 for MIAMI SPRINGS GOLF COURSE - CART STORAGE FACILITY; and WHEREAS, the City Manager reports that the bid of Southern Construction International Corp., for the base bid of the proposal, plus Additive Item A, is the lowest responsible bid, and recommends that a contract be awarded to said firm; and WHEREAS, the Capital Improvements Appropriation Ordinance No. 9534, as amended, was adopted on December 9, 1982, and monies are available for the proposed amount of the contract, project expense, and incidentals from the account entitled "Miami Springs Golf Course - Electric Golf Cart Storage Facility", as set forth under Sec- tion XVIII, B.1, of said ordinance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY COMMIS qIS N MEETING OF J 0 N 15 1983 3GLUT10r+ rqu. 83-533, BARKS. or Section 1. The May 24, 1983 bid of Southern Construction International Corp., in the proposed amount of $58,250, for the project entitled MIAMI SPRINGS GOLF COURSE - CART STORAGE FACILITY, for the base bid plus Additive Item A of the proposal, based on lump sum prices, is hereby accepted at the price stated therein. Section 2. The amount of $58,250 is hereby allocated from the account entitled "Miami Springs Golf Course - Electric Golf Cart Storage Facility" to cover the cost of said contract. Section 3. The additional amount of $6,000 is hereby allocated from the aforesaid fund to cover the cost of project expense. Section 4. The additional amount of $750 is hereby allocated from the aforesaid fund to cover the cost of such incidental items as advertising, testing laboratories, and postage. Section 5. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract on behalf of The City of Miami with Southern Construction International Corp. for MIAMI SPRINGS GOLF COURSE - CART STORAGE FACILITY, base bid plus Additive Item A of the proposal. Cath REFERENCES: (For Planning and Zoning erector 1— orks ENCLOSURES: Commission Meeting of. _ ,P June 15, 1983) I The Department of Public Works recommends adoption of the resolution accepting the bid received May 24, 1983 of Southern Construction International Corp. in the amount of $58,250; and authorizing the City Manager to enter into a contract on behalf of the City of Miami for MIAMI SPRINGS GOLF COURSE - CART STORAGE FACILITY. Bids were received May 24, 1983 for the construction of a shelter with a metal roof and chain link fencing sides, complete with electricity and asphalt flooring.. As reflected in the tabulation of bids, the $58,250 bid of Southern Construction International Corp. is the lowest responsible bid for Base Bid plus Additive Item A of the proposal. _ Funds have been allocated under the "Miami Springs Golf Course - Electric Golf Cart Storage Facility" account for the estimated amount of the contract, for project expense, and for such items as advertising, testing laboratories, and postage. Eighteen contractors picked up plans and specifications; 7 contractors submitted bids. The engineer's estimate was $56,000.
