AT A TOTAL COST OF $393,437 FOR ORANGE BOWL - UPPER DECK IMPROVEMENTS; AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE IN IHE JUNE 22, 1982 CONTRACT WITH MET CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR SAID WORK IN THE NET AMOUNT OF $6,437; AND AUTHORIZING A FINAL PAYMENT OF $45,137. WHEREAS, there exists a contract dated June 22, 1982 between the City of Miami and MET Construction, Inc. for ORANGE BOWL - UPPER DECK IMPROVEMENTS; and WHEREAS, the oriqinal contract was increased on December 9, 1982 by Resolution No. 82-1114 in the amount of $40,000; and WHEREAS, it. was thereafter decided to increase the number of metal Halide lights to be installed under this contract, due to the existing General Electric L-69 lights burning out at an ever-increasing rate; and WHEREAS, said L-69 lights were no longer being manufactured by General Electric; and WHEREAS, extra fencing was also required along with some incidental electric work; and WHEREAS, this additional work resulted in an increase in the contract cost; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Public Works have recommended the increase of $6,437 to cover the increased contract cost; and WHEREAS, the project has been satisfactorily completed, and MET Construction, Inc. has furnished the required documents certifying that all bills for labor and materials have been paid in full in connection with the aforesaid contract; and WHEREAS, sufficient funds are available from "Tourist Development Authority Funds"; CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF J U 1. 18 1983p+� RESOWIWA lio. 83-64 / REMARKS. AI► AW, NOW, THEREFORE, RE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The amount of the June 22, 1982 contract with MET Construction, Inc. for ORANGE BOWL - UPPER DECK IMPROVEMENTS is hereby increased in the net amount of $6,437, allocating monies therefor from the "Tourist Development Authority Funds". Section 2. The completed work performed by MET Construction, Inc. for ORANGE BOWL - UPPER DECK IMPROVEMENTS is hereby accepted at a total cost of $393,437. Section 3. The proper officials of the City of Miami are hereby authorized to pay MET Construction, Inc. a balance of $45,137 as full and final payment for all work performed and all materials furnished in connection with the aforesaid contract. Cather pirecttor� of ---Pub lic .Works DATE: May 26, 1983 ALE' B-2843 SUBJECT, ORANGE BOWL - UPPER DECK IMPROVEMENTS - Resolution for Increase in Contract REFERENCES: and Final Payment ENCLOSURES: (For Commission Meeting of July 18, 1983) The Department of Public Works recommends the adoption of the resolution accepting the completed work performed by MET Construction, Inc. at a total cost of $393,437 for ORANGE BOWL - UPPER DECK IMPROVEMENTS; authorizing an increase in the contract in the amount of $6,437; and authorizing a final payment of $45,137. MET Construction, Inc. has completed the project consisting of replacing certain incandescent lights with metal Halide quick -start lights and replacement of the upper deck fencing at the back of the stands at the Orange Bowl Stadium. During the course of light replacement, we learned that the existing General Electric L-69 lights are burning out at an ever-increasing rate, and are no longer manufactured by General Electric. Because it is a matter of time before replacement will no longer be available, a decision was made to increase the number of metal Halide lights to be installed under this contract. Extra fencing would be required along with miscellaneous electric work. This additional work will result in an increase in the contract amounting to $6,437. Funds to cover this additional work are available from "Tourist Development Authority Funds". The original contract amount was $347,000, and was increased by Resolution No. 82-1114 in the amount of $40,000 on Dec- ember 9, 1982. The completed amount is $393,437, and it was completed on time.
