WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received May 27, 1983 for the furnishing of ready -mixed concrete on a contract basis for one year to the Department of Public Works; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 24 potential suppliers and 6 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1982-63 Operatinq Rudget; and WHEREAS, this material will be used by the Department of Public Works for the purpose of replacinq broken and deteriorated sidewalks year-round; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Public Works recommend that the bid received from Central Concrete of Medley Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The May 27, 1982 bid of Central Concrete of Medley, Inc. for furnishing ready -mixed concrete on a contract basis for one year to the Department of Public Works at a total estimated cost of $129,600 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1982-83 Operating Budget of that Department. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Purchasing Agent to issue a Purchase Order for this material. Award of Bid, Resolution and Tabulation It is recommended that the award be made and a resolution prepared accepting the bid of Central Concrete for furnishing ready -mixed concrete at the base price of $36.00 per cubic yard on a contract basis for one year. Pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received on May 27, 1983 for furnishing ready -mixed concrete on a contract basis for one year. Six bids were received, including two from Latin minority suppliers. Both of their bids were higher than the lowest acceptable bid, as reflected in the bid tabulation. The concrete will be used by various departments as needed. The bulk of the material will be used by Public Works Operation Division crews for the replacement of broken and deteriorated sidewalk year-round. The lowest bidder is acceptable at a unit price of $36.00 per cubic yard. The estimated 3,600 cubic yards would cost $129,600.00. Funds have been allocated in the Public Works operating budget.
