WHEREArl, the City of Miami supports and encourages the
e.Ffarts of neighborhoods to r_reate a better I i v i n q
environment. through selF-help projects; and
11HEREASI the Martin Luther King Economic Development
Corporation has been established to meet human needs in the
Edison -Liberty City area within the jurisdiction of the City
of Miami; and
WHEREAS, the Martin Luther King Economic Development
Corporation is working to revitalize the Northwest 7th Avenue
business corridor from 58th to 64th Streets in the City of
Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Martin Luther King Economic Development
Corporation in its effort to obtain private contributions for
business and properties in said business corridor, has
applied for approval of corporate contribution tax credit:
against Florida Corporation Income Tax pursuant to Section
220-183, Florida Statutes, 1980 Supplement;
NOW, THEREFORE, HE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City of Miami hereby supports and
endorses the efforts of the Martin Luther King Economic
Development Corporation to establish a thriving business
corridor on Northwest 7th Avenue from 58th to 64th Streets in
Miami, Florida.
Section 2. The City of Miami hereby finds the fostering
of business and the rehabilitation of commercial structures
in said corridor l)y the Martin Luther King Economic
Developoment Corporation to be consistent with local plans

and regulations, based upon the project desrription provided
to the City of Miami by the Martin Luther King Economic
Development Corporation.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect
immediately upon its adopt ion by the City Commission.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of July , 1983.
