RESOLUTION NO. 83--5721
A RESOLUTION FXPRESSING THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY
AND SINCEREST COIIDOLENCES OF THE CITY COMMISSION
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY nF MIAMI AND ITS CITIZENS
TO THE FA14ILY AND FRIENDS OF AGENT EDUARDO (EDDIE)
BENITEZ UPON HIS DEATH.
WHEREAS, Eduardo (Eddie) Benitez had served with distinc-
tion as an Agent for the U.S. Treasury Department in the Alcohol,
Tobacco and Firearms Unit for 3 years before being shot while
making an arrest on July 8, 1983 during an undercover assignment
in the City of Miami; and
and
WHEREAS, agent Benitez died from his wound on July 13, 1983;
WHEREAS, Eddie Benitez was attempting to make his community
and this City a safer place to live when he made his supreme
sacrifice at the age of 27; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission, on be-
half of the City of Miami and its citizens, to express its
deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Eddie Benitez;
NOW.THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CODIMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Commission hereby conveys to the
family and friends of agent Eduardo (Eddie) Benitez its deepest
sympathy and sincerest condolences, on behalf of the citizens
of the City of Miami, upon his tragic death.
Section 2. The herein Resolution is offered by the City
Commission as a token of its respect and esteem.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18 day of July , 1983.
