RESOLUTION NO. H3-6SGI
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE E11PLOYMENT OF
RAYMOND VALENTI AS LEGAL ASSISTANT IN ACCORD-
ANCE WITH TPE ATTACHED MEMORANDUM OF UNDER-
STAIIDING BETWEEN THE CITY ATTORNEY AND THE
SAID INDIVIDUAL, USING BUDGETED FUNDS OF THE
LAW DEPARTMENT; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE ThE NECESSARY AGREEMENTS
TO IMPLEMENT THE HEREIN RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, the City Attorney is desirous of securing cer-
tain services which may be rendered by a Legal Assistant; and
WHEREAS, the Legal Assistant is capable and desirous of
performing such allied tasks as may be desired by the City
Attorney;
NOW THEREFORE, BL IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF IdIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The employment of Raymond Valenti, as Legal
Assistant, in accordance with the attached Memorandum of Under-
standina between the City Attorney and the said individual is
hereby authorized using budgeted funds of the Law Department.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to exe-
cute the necessar:. agreements to implement the herein resolution.

REMARKS.
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
This Memorandum of Understanding confirms the agreement
between JOSE R. GARCIA-PEDROSA, City Attorney (hereinafter re-
ferred to as the City Attorney) and RAYMOND VALENTI (hereinafter
referred to as the Legal Assistant).
W I T N E S S E T H:
WHEREAS, the City Attorney is desirous of securing certain
services which may be rendered by a Legal Assistant; and
WHEREAS, the Legal Assistant is capable and desirous of
performing such allied tasks as may be desired by the City
Attorney;
NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual covenants
hereinafter set forth and for and in consideration of One
Dollar ($1.00) and other good and valuable considerations, re-
ceipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the parties hereto
covenant and agree as follows:
The Legal Assistant agrees that he will perform law -office
related functions as required by the City Attorney and to assist
the legal investigative, administrative and clerical staff of
the City Attorney's office as may be required.
The Legal Assistant agrees to devote his full time to
the performance of such duties as may be required. The time
devoted to such services shall be 37.5 hours per week or as
determined by the City Attorney.
The City Attorney agrees that he will provide such super-
vision and training as may be required to enable the Legal
Assistant to perform said functions as may be required.
The City Attorney agrees that the Legal Assistant will be
compensated at the rate of $4.00 per hour during his tenure as
a Legal Assistant.
BOTH PARTIES AGREE that this agreement shall continue
from month to month and may be terminated at any time by either
party upon written notification to the other party.

The Legal A �lstant shall not in any maAier be considered
to be an employee by the City of Miami. He shall not be en-
titled to any benefits of any form or nature from the City of
Miami other than the compensation cited above.
In the event the Legal. Assistant shall in the future be
appointed to employment by the City of Miami he shall not accrue
any seniority or other emoluments connected with such employment
by reason the services rendered under this Agreement.
This Agreement shall be effective beginning August 20, 1983
and continue from week to week, unless and until terminated as
hereinabove stated.
