A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE HUMAN RIGHTS OF THOSE 23 PERSONS WHO ARRIVED IN THIS COUNTRY ON JULY 21, 1983 AFTER FLEVING FROr-1 CAIBAF.IFN IN THE COUNTRY OF CUBA BE PROTECTED IN THE SAME PLANNER AS OTHER PERSONS WHO HAVE FLED FROM COMMUNIST COUNTRIES AI4D THAT THOSE 23 PERSONS BE PERMITTED TO STAY IN THIS COUNTRY WITHOUT BEING CHARGED WITH ANY CRIME; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO FORWARD A COPY OI" THIS RESOLUTION TO THE OFFICIALS DESIGNATED HEREIN. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE: CITY OF MIAMI, E'LORIDA- Section 1. The City Commission respectfully requests that the human rights of those 23 persons who arrived in this country on July 21, 1983 after fleeing from Caibar.ien in the country of Cuba be protected in the same manner as other persons who have fled from communist countries and that those 23 persons be per- mitted to stay in this country without being charged with arty crime. Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to send a copy of this Resolution to the Director of Immigration and Naturalization Service in Miami, Florida, as well as to the Director of Immigration and Naturalization Service in Washington, D.C., and to the U.S. State Department. Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby further directed to send a copy of this Resolution to the President and Vice - President of the United States, each U.S. Senator, and to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, as well as to the individual members of the U.S. House of Representatives representing the State of Florida.
