A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $50,000 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, CONTINGENT FUND, TO THE NEW HORIZONS COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH CENTER IN SUPPORT OF ITS EFFORT TO PURCHASE THE FACILITY WHICH IT PRESENTLY OCCUPIES IN THE CITY OF MIAHI; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, SUBJECT TO THE CITY ATTORNEY'S APPROVAL AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS, WITH SAID AGENCY TO IMPLEMENT THE ALLOCATION. WHEREAS, the New Horizons Community Mental Health Center provides compre- hensive mental health care services to Black, Haitian, Cuban, and Puerto Rican mem- bers within the Liberty City, Wynwood, Allapattah, Overtown and Edison -Little River communities; and WHEREAS, the City Commission, by Motion 83-676 on July 28, 1983, approved funding in the amount of $50,000 to assist the New Horizons Community Mental Health Center to purchase the facility presently occupied by said agency at 1469 N.W. 36th Street in the City of Miami; FLORIDA: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, Section 1. An amount not to exceed $50,000 is hereby allocated from Special Programs and Accounts, Contingent Fund, to the New Horizons Community Mental Health Center in support of its effort to purchase the facility which it presently occupies in the City of Miami. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute an agreement, subject to the approval of the City Attorney as to form and correctness, with said agency to implement the herein allocation. Gary City Manager _ ITY VTER•iit Dena Spillman, Director Department of Community Development 16� August 31, 1983 Resolution Allocating Funds to New Horizons Community Mental Health Center City Commission Agenda September 7, 1983 Resolution It is recommended that the City Commission adopt a resolution allocating $50,000 to New Horizons Community Mental Health Center. The City Commission adopted Motion No. 83-676, which expressed intent to allocate $50,000 to New Horizons Community Mental Health Center, as a contribution to assist them in purchasing the facility the Agency occupies at 1469 N. 11. 36 Street. The New Horizons Community Mental Health Center is a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive mental health care services. The Center concen- trates on providing services to the Black, Haitian, Cuban, and Puerto Rican communities within the Liberty City, Wynwood, Allapattah, Overtown, and Edison -Little River communities. The Center receives its operating funds from Mental Health, H.R.S., Dade County, and the Area Agency on Aging. The funds allocated by the City may not be used for program operations. The attached Resolution formalizes Motion No. 83-676. The allocation will be made from Special Programs and Accounts: Contingency Fund, /rjf Enclosure 193-77C
