ICE AND FIRE SERVICES FOR THE EVENT. 1^111FRrAS, the Overt nwn Cominq Alive Festival has been celebrated For the p a s L 6 years and has proven to be a successful event enhancinq th(- q(iality of Iire in the Overtown area; and W I I E R F A S I the City Commission approved by I•lotion No. 83-679, on July 28, 1983, the amount of $10, 000 to sponsor the talent and production costs of the 1983 event, excluding police and fire services; and WHEREAS, the Festival also needed the above -mentioned services of the Police and Fire Departments for the safety of the area's inhabitants and visitors; and WHEREAS, the City Manager had to authorize the additional surn of $4,000 to cover said services, resulting in the total allocation of $14,000 to this Festival; NOW, THEREFORE, HE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The allocation of $101000 from Special Programs and Accounts, Contingent Fund, to sponsor the talent and production costs of the 1983 Overtown Coming Alive Festival in the City of Miami, held in August, 1983, and the additional allocation of $4,000 from Special Programs and Accounts, Contingent fund, to cover police and fire services for said Festival are hereby ratified, approved and confirmed. Cit-., Manager FROM Albert �i. ridward, �D3rector Department of Recreation a ATE August 19, 1933 WILE SUBJECT Prcncsed Resolution Overtown Coming alive Festival REFERENCES ENCLOSURES The Overtown Coming Alive Festival has been celebrated for the past six (6) years and proved to be a successful event enhancing the quality of Life of the Overtwon area. The City Commission approved by Motion No. 83-679 the amount of S10,000 to sponsor the talent and production costs of this event excluding Police and Fire Servi- ces. This festival needed the above mentioned services of the Police and Fire Departments for the safety of the area's inhabitants and visi- tors. By City Manager's action the additional amount of $4,000 was allocated to cover said expenses. Enclosed please find a proposed Resolution ratifying City Manager's action by increasing the appropriation to the Overtown Coming Alive Festival in the amount of $4,000 to cover emergency Police and Fire costs not included in the original Motion.
