Gary DATE August 19, 1983 FILE City Manager FROM ert Aowra4rd, AlbDirector Department of Recreation �01 SUBJECT Proposed Resolution - Downtown Miami Development Authority Parade association REFERENCES ENCLOSURES It is recommended that Motion 83-577, appropria- ting and allocating from the Special Programs and Accounts Contingency Fund an amount not to exceed $7,500 in cash and in -kind services. Funds to be granted for the purpose of Police services, Fire services, and a cash contribu- tion for prizes to be awarded to the Downtown Miami Development Authority Parade Association in connection with the Florida Wave Parade to be held Saturday, August 20, 1983. It is recom- mended funding be ratified and confirmed as per the attached resolution. The Florida Wave Parade will showcase the City of Miami as host of an international Drum and Bugle Corps Parade via National televi- sion. This event will greatly enhance the recreational and cultural image of the City, both nationally and internationally. The City Commission approved by Motion 83-577 of July 18, 1983, an amount not to exceed $7,500 be allocated. Said funds to cover Police services, Fire services and a cash contribution for prizes. These monies are to be drawn from the Special Programs and Accounts Contingency Fund. Therefore, this department recommends that Motion 83-577 of July 18, 1983, appropriating and allocating from the Special Programs and Accounts Contingency Fund an amount not to exceed $7,500 to the Downtown Miami Development Authority Parade Association in connec- tion with the "Florida Wave Parade," be ratified and confirmed.
