SUBJECT TO THE i�VAILABI LITY OF FUNDS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, scalcd were
received July 11, 1983 for the furnishinq and installing approxi-
mately 10,000 square yards of Carpeting and Related Materials on
a Contract Basis for One Year to the Department of Building and
Vehicle Maintenance; and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 38 potential
suppliers and 4 bids were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the
Annual Operating Budget; and
WHEREAS, this service and materials will be used by the
Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance for the purpose
of providing new and replacement carpeting to various City Depart-
ments as required; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the
Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance recommend that the
bid received from Carpet Systems, Inc. be accepted as the lowest
responsible and responsive bid;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TIIE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The July 11, 1983 bid of Carpet Systems, Inc.
for furnishing and installing approximately 10,000 square yards
of Carpeting and Related Materials on a Contract Basis for One
Year to the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance at a
total proposed cost of $115,200.00 is hereby accepted with funds
therefor: hereby allocated from the Annual Operating Budget of that
Department.

THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE
RECOMMENDS THAT THE AWARD BE MADE AND A RESOLUTION
BE PASSED ACCEPTING THE LOWEST RESPONSIBLE AND
RESPONSIVE BID AS RECEIVED FROM CARPET SYSTEMS, INC.,
FOR FURNISHING APPROXIMATELY 10,000 SQUARE YARDS OF
CARPETING ON A CONTRACT BASIS FOR ONE YEAR, AT A
TOTAL ESTIMATED COST OF $115,Z00.
Five bids were received for the above -mentioned carpet.
This carpet will be used for new installations at five fire stations that are
being renovated by the Property Maintenance Division; replacement on three
floors of the Police Department; replacement of all deteriorated carpet at
the Little Havana Community Center, and for other new and replacement installa-
tions citywide on an as -needed basis.
Funds for this purchase are available in the Property Maintenance Division
budget.

carpeting to be used in wall installations.
However, the bidder has failed to respond
to a formal request for additional information
on this product, and thus is found nonrespon-
sible, under City of Miami Code Section
18-54.1.
