AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE
NO. 8719, AS AMENDED, BY INCREASING THE
APPROPRIATION FOR THE TRUST AND AGENCY FUND
ENTITLED: "SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM FOR
CHILDREN - 1983" BY $116,468 WITH REVENUES
TO BE RECEIVED FROM THE UNITED STATED DEPART-
MENT OF AGRICULTURE THROUGH THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION; CONTAINING A REPEALER
PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 8719 on
October 16, 1977, establishing resources and appropriations for grant
funds anticipated by the City of Miami, Florida, and for corresponding
City matching funds; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 9636 on June 9,
1983 establishing a new Trust and Agency Fund entitled: "Summer Food
Service Program for Children - 1983" and appropriating $133,532 for
its operation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami has been notified by the Florida
Department of Education that additional meals can be provided and
reimbursed at a rate of $1.515 per meal; and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the State of Florida will continue
to allow the City to serve additional lunches as needed; and
WHEREAS, an appropriation of $250,000 ($133,532 + $116,468) will
allow the program to expend as the need for additional lunches increases;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF

Section 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 8719, adopted on October 26,
1977, as amended, is hereby further amended in the following parti-
culars: l/

Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar as they

are hereby repealed.
Section 3. If any section, part of section, paragraph, clause,
phrase or word of this ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining
provisions of this ordinance shall not be affected.

It is recommended that the appropriation from the
Trust and Agency Fund entitled "Summer Food Ser-
vice Program for Children - 1983" be increased by c
$116,468 with revenues to be received from the vt
United States Department of Agriculture through
the Florida Department of Education, to allow for
expansion of the program, to serve meals to addi-
tional needy children during the summer months,
as per the attached ordinance.

The City Commission adopted Ordinance 9636 on June 9, 1983, establishing
a new Trust and Agency Fund entitled "Summer Food Service Program for
Children - 1983" and appropriating $133,532 for its operation.
Subsequently, the City of Miami has been notified by the Florida Depart-
ment of Education that additional meals can be provided and reimbursed
at a rate of $1.515 per meal on an as -needed basis. It is estimated that
this increase may provide total appropriations up to $250,000.
Therefore, in the City's best interest in feeding as many needy youth as
possible, it is recommended that the appropriation of $133,532 be
by $116,468, to $250,000, via an amendment to Ordinance 8719, ascr.

AND APPROPRIATE PRIVATE DONATIONS FOR PARK DEVEL-
