HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-83-0985RESOLUTION NO. 83-985, A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING S86,366 OF FY'83-84 FEDERAL REVENUE SHARING FUNDS APPROPRIATED BY PASSAGE OF ORDINANCE NO. 9684 TO PREVIOUSLY APPROVED SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES LISTED HEREIN IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED 1/12TH OF THE TOTAL ALLOCATION TO EACH AGENCY FOR FY'82-83, FOR THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 1, 1983 THROUGH NOVEMBER 30, 1983, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENTS WITH THE AFORE- MENTIONED AGENCIES, SUBJECT TO THE CITY ATTORNEY'S APPROVAL AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS. WHEREAS, the City Commission has indicated its intent to support certain social service programs providipq service to residents of the City of Miami through an allocation df Federal Revenue Sharing funds; and WHEREAS, funds have been previously appropriated by Ordinance No. 9684 to accomplish this purpose; and WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 83-875 which pro- vided $86,366 to certain social services agencies to cover the period October 1, 1983 through October 31, 1983; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. $86,366 of Federal Revenue Sharing funds previously appro- priated by Ordinance No. 9684, adopted September 29, 1983, is hereby allocated to those agencies listed herein in an amount not to exceed 1/i2th of the total allocation to each agency for FY'82-83, for the period November 1, 1983 through November 30, 1983. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into an agrccr,2nt, subject to the City Attorney's approval as to form and correctness, with the aforementioned agencies to implement respective social service pro- grams, subject to the conditions and limitations contained herein. Gary City Manager ,( 1t.tE �1jE1c_� J1 /ram Dena Spillman, Director Department of Community Development October 11, 1983 F.R.S. 1/12 Fundina Resolution for Social Service Programs, 1983-84 City Commission Agenda October 25, 1983 It is recommended that the City Commission adopt a resolution allocating 1/12 of the FY'82-83 Federal Revenue Sharing allocation to previously approved social service agen- cies for the period covering November 1, 1983 - November 30, 1983. ;We recommend that the item to allocate FY'83-84 Federal Revenue Sharing funds to �.dcial services agencies be deferred until the first City Commission meet- ing in November. The additional time is needed to complete our review of all -of the applications that have been submitted. To date, we have received an unprecedented total of 36 proposals of which 17 are new proposals. The proposed resolution extends Federal Revenue Sharing (F.R.S.) funding of existing social service projects for the period November 1, 1983 - November 30, 1983, at a level of 1/12 the 1982-83 F.R.S. allocation to each community based organization. At its September 29, 1983 meeting, the City Commission approved a 1/12 allocation to existing projects for the period October 1-31, 1983.
