:REAS, sealed bids were received August 29,

RIVER DRIVE; and
AREAS, the City Manager and the Director of
the Department of Public [forks recommend that the bid
received from Russell, Inc. be accepted as the lowest
responsible and responsive bid;
WHEREAS, the Capital Improvements Appropriation
Ordinance No. 9534, as amended, was adopted on December 9,
1982, and monies are available for the proposed amount
of the contract, project expense, and incidentals from
the account entitled "City Wide Paving Improvements",
as set forth under Section II, Item B.9, of said ordinance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The August 29, 1983 bid of Russell,
Inc. in the proposed amount of $57,839, for the project
entitled CITY WIDE PAVING PROJECT - S. W. 27 AVENUE AND
N. W. NORTH RIVED DRIVE, for the total bid of the proposal,
based on unit prices, is hereby accepted at the price
stated therein.

Section 2. The amount of $57,839 is hereby
allocated from the account entitled "City Wide Paving
Improvements" to cover the cost of said contract.
Section 3. The additional amount of $7,519
is hereby allocated from the aforesaid fund to cover
the cost of project expense.
Section 4. The additional amount of $1,162
is hereby allocated from the aforesaid fund to cover
the cost of such incidental items as advertising, testing
laboratories, and postage.
Section 5. The City Manager is hereby authorized
to enter into a contract on behalf of The City of Miami
with Russell, Inc. for CITY WIDE PAVING PROJECT - S. W. 27
AVENUE AND N. W. NORTH RIVER DRIVE, total bid of the
proposal.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 25th day of October--,

Attached please find two blank resolutions for award
of bids. We will be receiving bids on these projects
after the deadline for submission of items for the
September 7th meeting.
In order to encourage minority participation, one of
these, CITY WIDE PAVING PROJECT - S.W. 27 AVENUE AND
N.W. NORTH RIVER DRIVE H-4489, has been divided into
two parts. Therefore, we may end up awarding either
one or two contracts, depending on whether there is
one low bidder for both parts, or two different low
bidders. We will not know this until after the bids
are received.
You may want to keep this in mind when reserving space
for these items on the agenda.

The Department of Public Works recommends
adoption of the resolution accepting
the bid received August 29, 1983 of

on behalf of the City of Miami for
CITY WIDE PAVING PROJECT - S.W. 27
AVENUE AND N.W. NORTH RIVER DRIVE.
Bids were received August 29, 1983 for rebuilding approximately
1000 miles of residential streets. Construction will include
clearing and grading, asphaltic pavement, incidental concrete
curb and gutter, incidental concrete sidewalk, storm sewer
facilities and sodding. The engineer's estimate for this
project is $48,000. The project will be divided in two
different phases, estimated at $25.000 and $23,000.
As reflected in the tabulation of bids, the $ bid
of is the lowest responsible
bid for the total bid of the proposal.
Funds have been allocated under the "CITY WIDE PAVING IMPROVEMENTS"
account for the estimated amount of the contract, for project
expense, and for such items as advertising, testing laboratories,
and postage.
